Year of the Snake coming to a close (Horse, you up.) I love the Lunar New Year so much I commemorated it with a candle this year. ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ (scent is incense, rose & peppercorn) blesses the New Year, our ancestors, our unions (the symbol is often seen in weddings as well). If youโve been following my work, you know how much it is influenced by New York and all of its special enclaves. Chinatown is one of my favorites and the double happiness symbol is everywhere right now.
Not my work in this carousel is 1.) Riso print of a bridal couple from , a bookshop dedicated to SWANA, which sadly had to close and I await their hopeful reopen. Hat by via . The P@lestine flag sighting is at who do great work advocating for immigrants.
Shoutout to all the world humans who make New York and America what it is, even though I think borders are absurd. Shoutout to my Dad who made it over here from Romania, and to my Momโs Viking family before her (shoutout to grandmaโs Minnesota).
I have hope that like a snake, the world is shedding its skin. Itโs not a stepwise process and maybe we will be alternating between darkness and light for a while. But the Sun will rise and we will try again.
