Today, we remember and pray for those who gave their lives in service to others. On this Memorial Day, may we honor their sacrifice by recommitting ourselves to the work of peace, justice, and the dignity of all.

As people of faith, we ask for the grace to be instruments of reconciliation in a world still wounded by violence and division.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

Today we celebrate both Pentecost Sunday and the Feast of Madonna della Strada (Our Lady of the Way). It is especially fitting that these feasts coincide. Just as the Holy Spirit emboldens us to do God’s will, many of the early Jesuits professed their vows and prayed before the icon of Madonna della Strada before setting out on their missionary journeys.

May the Holy Spirit embolden us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, and may our Blessed Mother Mary show us the way to Him.

Fr. Timothy Brown, SJ, was the recipient of the President’s Medal during the Loyola University Maryland Commencement in recognition of his extraordinary service. Over the years, Fr. Brown has become an inspiration as a beloved faculty member, retreat leader, assistant to the president for mission integration, and trusted advisor. His daily witness to justice, service, and care for others continues to shape the Loyola community in profound ways. He is pictured with University President Terry Sawyer.

Registration is now open for the 18th Annual Friends of the Jesuits Golf Outing – The Keenan, held in memory of Fr. James F. Keenan, SJ, at the prestigious Westchester Country Club. Golfers will have the chance to compete for the Keenan Cup, which will give them an opportunity to represent their Jesuit school in a spirited tournament honoring Fr. Keenan’s legacy and lifelong dedication to Jesuit education. We hope to see you on the green on September 21!

A nearly 500-year-old Niccolò Betti painting, donated by the Morgan Family, has been restored and is now on display at the University of Scranton’s Weinberg Memorial Library. During the six-month restoration, experts uncovered a hidden figure of the young St. John the Baptist beneath layers of paint, revealing the work’s full composition for the first time in centuries. Now titled Madonna and Child with the Young St. John the Baptist.

Restoration of a centuries-old painting revealed a hidden piece of imagery that will now be on full display at the University of Scranton.

On Monday, May 18, Fr. Richard Nichols, SJ, Chaplain at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, professed his Final Vows in the hospital’s Chapel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Fr. Provincial Joseph O’Keefe, SJ, presided and received his vows. Congratulations to Fr. Nichols on his full incorporation into the Society of Jesus!

Fr. John Predmore, SJ, of Boston College High School, recently completed his fourth Boston Marathon, raising more than $36,000 for the medical needs of the unhoused. And as always, Fr. Predmore gave blessings to many supporters and spectators along the road from Hopkinton to Boston. A true Runner for Others!

View highlights from our 2026 Jesuit Gala, in which we honored Fr. William Leahy, SJ, president of Boston College and Fr. Joseph McShane, SJ, president emeritus of Fordham University with the Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam Award. The evening raised a record-breaking $3 million to support the Jesuits—educating Jesuits in formation, caring for senior Jesuits, encouraging vocations, and assisting with educational, pastoral, and social ministries.
