Eastern States Buddhist Temple of America | Manhattan, NYC
Founded in 1962 by Mrs. Annie Ying, Eastern States Buddhist Temple of America is the original temple of the organization and the oldest Chinese Buddhist temple on the East Coast of the United States.
Since its early years in Chinatown, New York, the Temple has served the local community through Buddhist practice, Dharma teachings, lectures, ceremonies, and community gatherings. Over the decades, its role has grown beyond its local roots, becoming a place of connection for Buddhist communities across the Eastern United States.
Located at 64 Mott Street in Manhattan’s Chinatown, Eastern States Buddhist Temple of America continues to provide a space for religious practice, learning, cultural connection, and community life. Through its ongoing programs and activities, the Temple carries forward a longstanding Buddhist tradition while remaining connected to the communities it has served for more than six decades.
