Storms have a way of revealing what is really holding us together.

In this message, Pastor Tim Dilena points to the contrast between Ahaz and Isaiah. Both saw the same danger. One was overwhelmed by fear. The other had received something deeper from God.

Like a boat that needs weight beneath the waterline to survive powerful waves, we need spiritual weight beneath the visible parts of our lives: God’s Word, prayer, His presence.

And when darkness comes, it does not mean God has disappeared. Some of the Bible’s greatest promises were spoken in moments of uncertainty. In Isaiah’s darkest hour came the promise of Emmanuel, Jesus, God with us.

Prayer is how we prepare our hearts to stand. It is also how we stand in the gap for families, cities, and people who desperately need hope.

You do not have to face the storm alone.

Overcoming isn’t always about changing our circumstances; it’s about changing what we see in the middle of them.

David Wilkerson often pointed people back to this truth: that Jesus is present in every moment, not just the good ones. In the waiting, the struggle, the uncertainty, He is there, working, shaping, and revealing Himself.

When we begin to see Jesus in all things, even the hardest seasons take on new meaning. What once felt like defeat can become the very place where faith grows strongest.

“As for me, I shall call upon God, and the Lord will save me.” Psalm 55:16

In Pastor Tim's message, we were reminded that storms are coming, but prayer anchors us. Just as Abraham’s prayers rescued Lot and Isaiah stood steady in crisis, we are called to be people who seek God before the storm, not after.

Today, we ended service by praying for an "as for me" man, Pastor Rob Schmidgall, who has been diagnosed with ALS. We prayed as a church, believing for a miracle for him, his family, and others who also are in need of healing.

This week, build your foundation. Set time aside to pray morning, noon, and night. Fight for healing, for miracles, for awakening. When everything around you feels uncertain, let your response be: "as for me, I will call upon God."

Following Jesus is more than what we say or believe. It’s how we treat people, how we respond to those in need, and whether we’re willing to step outside our comfort zones to love others.

Truth and compassion can exist together. We don’t have to compromise what we believe to love people well. God’s love should change the way we see people, serve people, and respond to the needs around us.

Let’s not just talk about love. Let’s live it.

This is what it looks like when we lay our burdens down before Jesus. The weight lifts, peace comes, and we’re reminded that we don’t have to carry everything alone. Worship becomes a response of trust in the One who gives rest.

Only One God never fails.

In Judges 18: Micah had idols, a priest, and religion, but when the real battle came, none of it could protect him.

Our idols can’t save us. Our religion can’t save us. Only the one true God can.

God is greater than every idol, every false god, and every enemy. Nothing we create is greater than the God who created us.

We will all face our “600.” Make sure you’re facing yours with the one true God who defeats them.

It is easy to love people who agree with us.

Jesus calls us to something deeper.

In a culture filled with anger, division, and suspicion, He tells us to love our enemies, pray for those who mistreat us, and become neighbors to people we might otherwise avoid.

That is the challenge of the Good Samaritan. He did not simply notice the wounded man. He stopped. He moved closer. His compassion cost him time, resources, and comfort.

Real love does the same.

This does not mean abandoning truth or pretending every belief is the same. Love has no boundaries, but truth does. Jesus shows us how to hold both conviction and compassion.

So keep your eyes open this week.

Who have you been walking past? Who needs prayer? Who needs kindness? Who needs to experience the love of Jesus through you?

Ask Jesus to lead you toward your next step, and remember, you do not have to walk alone.

There are moments in life that feel overwhelming, when the weight of what’s in front of us seems too much to carry.

But this simple truth remains: you are not facing it alone.
