Today, Our Brother's at Saint Anthony’s High School came together in faith to celebrate Mass in honor of the Feast of Saint Francis.

During this special liturgy, they renewed their vows as Brothers before the faculty, staff, and students of Saint Anthony's, offering a powerful witness to lives rooted in faith, service, humility, and fraternity.

On the evening of Friday, September 11, Brother Greg participated in a prayer service on the Promenade, joining in a solemn moment of remembrance, reflection, and prayer.

Together, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the spirit of faith and unity that continues to guide us.

Bishop Brennan joined the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn on Sunday, August 30, at Our Lady of Angels Friary in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Saint Francis.

It was a beautiful gathering of faith, fraternity, and gratitude, honoring the enduring legacy of Saint Francis and the continued mission of the Franciscan Brothers.

Some of our Brothers traveled to Loretto, Pennsylvania, to celebrate and congratulate Brother John Joseph on this meaningful milestone in his Franciscan journey.

Progress continues in Lare, Kenya!

We are grateful to share the latest construction updates from Brother Bernard, O.S.F., as new classrooms continue to take shape at St. Francis Secondary School.

These classrooms mark another important step forward for the school community, following the recent additions of the library, water tower, and school bus. Each new development helps strengthen the educational experience for students and reflects the ongoing Franciscan commitment to building hope, opportunity, and a brighter future around the world.

In Memoriam: Brother Thomas Grady, O.S.F.

We prayerfully remember Brother Thomas Grady, O.S.F., who entered Eternal Life peacefully on May 21, 2026, after 62 years as a Franciscan Brother.

Brother Thomas lived a life of faithful service, education, leadership, and fraternity. His ministry included teaching at St. Francis Prep, serving in prison ministry, leading formation, and holding several leadership roles within the Congregation, including Superior General. He also served on the boards of Saint Anthony’s High School, St. Francis Prep, St. Francis College, and several Franciscan organizations.

A gifted leader, mentor, artist, and Brother, Brother Thomas helped advance the Franciscan mission locally and globally, always rooted in faith, justice, and the spirit of St. Francis.

We give thanks for his life, his example, and his many years of service.

Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3620 Tilden Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11203. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial donation to the Franciscan Brothers. Recently, Brother Leonard visited the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse in Brentwood and had the pleasure of taking Sister Ann out to dinner, an evening filled with gratitude, memories, and celebration.

Many may remember Sister Ann from her earlier years at St. Francis Preparatory School, when she was known as Sister Alta. During the school’s move to Fresh Meadows in the 1970s, she served as Chair of the Music Department and played a pivotal role in shaping its future, most notably hiring Bob Corbino, who continues to lead the department today. She later returned to the Prep in the mid-1980s as a reference librarian, continuing her quiet and impactful service to students.

Sister Ann represents the legacy of the many dedicated Sisters who have helped build and strengthen St. Francis Prep over the years. We are grateful for her contributions and for the enduring spirit of faith and education she embodies.

On Tuesday, April 28, Brother Leonard attended the Futures in Education Annual Scholarship Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street, an inspiring evening dedicated to supporting students and strengthening the mission of Catholic education.

The event was beautifully emceed by Christine Persichette, a proud St. Francis Preparatory School graduate and anchor for Current News.

Also pictured is Michaela Phillips, an 8th grade student at Divine Mercy Catholic Academy, who has been accepted to St. Francis Preparatory School this September. As the keynote student speaker, Michaela delivered a heartfelt reflection on how Futures in Education provided the financial support that allowed her to complete her Catholic elementary education.

A powerful night highlighting the impact of generosity, the promise of our students, and the enduring value of a Catholic education.
