RETURNING TO DONGCHU: BACK TO WHERE WE START, TRUE TO OUR ORIGINAL HEART

In Chan practice, there is a saying: Ichigo Ichie (one time, one meeting).

Guoguang Fashi and Žarko Andričević are both disciples of Master Sheng Yen. They first met before the year 2000, long before either became a Dharma heir.

Time has flown by, and after years of diligent practice—one in the East and one in the West—they are now reuniting through a rare karmic connection at Dongchu Zen Monastery, the ancestral home established by Master Sheng Yen in the United States.

They will share their deep insights into the Dharma, born from their own personal journeys through life and death over these many years—a new meeting for a new time.

In these times of impermanence, this is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime encounter.The Chinese Chan Buddhist Association cordially invites every Chan friend to join us at Dongchu Zen Monastery to listen to the profound insights on the Chan lineage from these two Dharma heirs.

The sutras say that if you want to know about your past, just look at yourself now. Look at what is happening, what you are encountering now. This tells you all you need to know about your previous lives. And if you want to know what is in store for you in your future lives, just watch yourself now. What you are doing in the present moment will produce your future.

By following Master Sheng Yen’s clear and accessible teachings on the Seven Aspects of the Chan School, we are guided to see the fundamental landscape of the Chan lineage.
