As the school year has come to an end, we wanted to share some pictures of our graduating class from Shalom Rockland ECC and the last few days of school at BeYachad. It has been a tremendously successful first year with our schools being one. We are moving in the right direction for both congregations and for the broader Rockland Jewish community. A progressive Jewish community in Rockland County matters and your support is key to our continued success! As we continue to grow, learn, and overcome new obstacles, Our One Community is confident in what is to come. Please stay involved and engaged with us throughout the summer and be ready for exciting developments coming this fall.

Last May, Temple Beth Sholom and the New City Jewish Center formed BeYachad, bringing together their nursery schools and religious schools in joint programs that work together to educate and inspire over two hundred Jewish children in New City, New York. Now, both congregations are in the process of exploring a shared space model or “One Community”, where we will maintain our separate identities while partnering to create a better experience for its members.

On this past Sunday, we celebrated the possibilities of our partnership. Over one hundred congregants from the New City Jewish Center and Temple Beth Sholom joined together to play games, eat latkes, and watch a special Chanukah performance by the Time Flies Circus. Together, we celebrated the miracle of Chanukah and community.
