🌍 The Tanzania Task Force plays a vital role in nurturing the Companion Diocese partnership between the Episcopal Diocese of New York and the Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika, Tanzania.

This summer, our co-chair, the Rev. Deacon Robin Newman, led a group from St. Luke’s Church, South Bronx, on a mission trip to the Diocese of Central Tanganyika. During the visit, Deacon Robin (pictured far right) was honored by the Rt. Rev. Dickson Chilongani, who appointed her as an honorary canon—a remarkable testament to the deep and growing relationship between our two dioceses. This recognition also celebrates Deacon Robin’s passionate commitment to strengthening these bonds.

Reflecting on the trip, Deacon Robin shared:
“The mission to Tanzania was both exciting and invigorating. It was inspiring to see the progress on projects we've been involved in and reconnect with cherished friends. I’m deeply honored and blessed to have been appointed as a canon by Bishop Dickson.”

🙏 We are incredibly proud of Deacon Robin and all the work she’s done to further this wonderful partnership.

While we count down the days together, please take a look at the highlight reel from last year's global mission fair, generously hosted by Trinity Church Wall Street.

We had the privilege of welcoming Karenna Gore from the Center for Earth Ethics as our keynote speaker, and explored a variety of topics through engaging workshops.

We look forward to supporting more projects around the Anglican Communion and deepening connections with parishes across the Episcopal Diocese of New York. Recipients of 2024 grants will be announced at this year's Global Mission Fair in October.

You still have time to apply for a 2024 Sustainable Development Goal grant! This fosters partnership between a parish in The Episcopal Church and a parish elsewhere in the Anglican Communion, all while tying in to UN Sustainable Development Goals!
