Assalamu Alaikum/Peace Be Unto You!
My dear sisters and brothers:
**Nine things that happened to Banu Israel that the Quran specifically uses as warnings for the Muslims who came after them.
This is not ancient history told for academic interest. The Quran tells their story as a mirror.
Read every one slowly. And be honest about which ones you recognize.
1. THEY RECEIVED THE MOST GUIDANCE AND BECAME THE MOST UNGRATEFUL
-Allah God Almighty says He gave them more prophets, more miracles, and more direct divine intervention than any other nation!
-And they are also the nation most consistently described in the Quran as rejecting, killing, and distorting what was given to them.
-The lesson the Quran draws isn't "look how bad they were." It's this: more blessing doesn't automatically produce more gratitude. It can produce more entitlement if the heart isn't properly anchored..
-How much have you been given? And what has more given you?
2. THEY CHANGED THEIR SCRIPTURE TO SUIT THEMSELVES
-The Quran accuses them of altering the words of their scripture to make it say what was convenient for them, rather than submitting to what it actually said.
-The scholars who studied this noted something uncomfortable: you don't have to physically rewrite a text to effectively change it. You can
selectively emphasize what's easy, consistently ignore what's hard, and over time build a religious culture that technically points to the book but practically lives by something else.
-Which parts of the Quran do you quote easily?
-Which parts have you quietly stopped engaging with?
3. THEY MADE THEIR SCHOLARS INTO LORDS
"They have taken their scholars and monks as lords
besides Allah." (Quran 9:31)
*When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explained this verse to a companion who was confused by it, he said: It doesn't mean they literally worshipped them. It means when their scholars made haram what Allah made halal, they followed.
And when they made halal what Allah made haram, they followed that too.
-Following a scholar over clear revelation.
-Treating a human being's opinion as more binding than Allah's word. That's what this verse was pointing to.
-It was happening in Banu Israel.
The Prophet ﷺ warned it would happen among Muslims.
4. THEY PERFORMED WORSHIP WITHOUT PRESENCE
-Their prayer became ritual without awareness.
-Their fasting became tradition without transformation.
-Their religious practice continued outwardly while their hearts drifted away from what the practice was for.
-The Quran describes their hearts as having become "like rocks or even harder." (Quran 2:74)
-After all the miracles they had seen. -After everything they had been given.
-Hardened hearts don't announce themselves loudly.
-They announce themselves quietly, in a prayer that feels like nothing, in a -Ramadan that comes and goes without changing anything.
5. THEY LOVED THIS WORLD MORE THAN WHAT CAME AFTER
*The Prophet ﷺ described a disease called "wahn" — love of dunya combined with dislike of death — and said: "The nations will call each other to set upon you the way diners call each other to
a meal."
-They asked: will that be because of our small number?
*He said: "No, you will be numerous, but you will be like the foam on a flood\ocean."
(Sunan Abu Dawud 4297)
-The same disease Banu Israel carried — clinging to comfort, dreading the accountability of what
comes after — is what the Prophet ﷺ was warning would weaken the Muslims..May Allah protect us all! Aameen!
6. THEY WERE DIVIDED OVER THINGS THAT DIDN'T MATTER
*The Quran describes them arguing about the exact color of a cow, the precise age of it, how many
stripes it had, when the actual command had been simple from the beginning: just slaughter a cow!
(Quran 2:67-71)
-Every unnecessary question made the simple thing harder!
-The Muslim ummah today has mastered this. We have divided over the width of trousers, the folding of hands, the moon sighting, and a hundred other things that have nothing to do with whether we
are worshipping Allah with our whole hearts! May Allah forgive us all! Aameen!
7. THEY STOPPED COMMANDING GOOD AND FORBIDDING EVIL
*"They used to not forbid one another from the wrongdoing that they did." (Quran 5:79)
*When a community reaches the point where speaking truth about what's wrong is considered rude, divisive, or inappropriate — and silence is considered politeness — it has reached the state the Quran was describing here.
-The silence is not neutral. It is a position.
-It just happens to be the most comfortable one.
8. THEIR UNITY COLLAPSED INTO TRIBALISM
*The twelve tribes of Prophet Yaqub's sons became twelve competing, sometimes warring factions. The same people. Same father. Same prophet lineage. Same book. And still, tribalism tore them apart!
"And do not be like those who became divided and
differed after the clear proofs had come to them."
(Quran 3:105)
-This verse, written after the Quran had already described what Banu Israel did, is addressed to the believers who came after them.
The warning is direct. Don't repeat it!!!
9. THEY KILLED THE PEOPLE WHO TOLD THEM THE TRUTH
-Not every Muslim is going to kill a prophet. That's a fair point.
-But the pattern the Quran identified wasn't only physical silencing. It was any systematic removal of the voices that told you what you didn't want
to hear.
-Mocking the scholar who gives an unpopular ruling.
-Unfollowing the person whose content convicts you.
-Surrounding yourself only with voices that confirm what you already want to do.
-The method changes. The pattern doesn't.
**The Quran didn't preserve Banu Israel's story for fourteen centuries so that Muslims could feel superior to them.
**It preserved it because, in their history, every warning a Muslim community needs to hear is already written, already documented, already answered with full detail about what comes next when the warning is ignored..
***May Allah Almighty always forgive, protect, bless and guide us and our families and our Ummah to the best understanding of His Quran and the Sunnah, and protect us from the evils of our own hands and evil from within and from Shaitan the cursed!
Aameen!
**May Almighty Allah always bless, guide & protect us and our brothers & sisters in Palestine & ALL the oppressed, and grant them mercy, food, shelter, health & happiness & protect their Homeland! Aameen! May Allah force an end to the Oppression and Wars and grant HIS Justice & His Jannatul Firdaus without reckoning, Aameen❤️
