This Shabbat, Jewish communities around the world will read the story of Noah’s ark.

As we return to the story, these words from disability scholar and theologian Rabbi Dr. Julia Watts Belser remind us of what’s at stake in our fight for a just, livable future. The story of Noah’s Ark represents salvation for the few. At Dayenu, we are committed to centering the needs of our most vulnerable community members to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight for climate justice.

Air pollution from gas-powered AI data centers is expected to add at least $20 billion in annual health care costs in less than two years — and no one seems to be talking about it.

This is from a study released this month by a group representing more than 800 former employees of the Environmental Protection Agency. The report -- The Hidden Health Costs of AI Data Centers -- outlines the "significant risks to Americans’ health" caused by data centers run on power plants.

The weekend of October 16-18, Dayenu is partnering with The Workers Circle, Bend the Arc Jewish Action, Carolina Jews for Justice, Center for Common Ground, The Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action and Jews for Freedom to knock on doors in Charlotte, NC to make sure people have the info and motivation they need to vote this fall.

It's week five of Dayenu's Journey Through Election Season: Jewish Wisdom for Bold Action.

⛰️ This week marks the beginning of the Hebrew month of Cheshvan, a month of grounding in routine and integrating the learnings of the High Holiday season.

Ask yourself:

✔️ How am I practicing endurance, resilience, and strength in this season?

✔️ What grounding practices and rituals help sustain me?

✔️ What do my colleagues and comrades need to keep going?

Then choose one grounding practice that you can do in under 10 minutes, whether it's daily meditation or prayer, journaling about your sources of strength, lighting Shabbat candles, or anything else that's meaningful to you.

Keep it small and manageable. Return to this practice and see what happens when you bring endurance to the ritual.
