He Has Not Forgotten

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and enabled her to conceive.
Genesis 30:22, NIV

TODAY’S WORD:

In the Old Testament, both Rachel and her sister, Leah, were married to Jacob. Having already waited seven years to marry Jacob, Rachel wanted to start their family, but year after year she was not able to conceive. Meanwhile, Leah had one son after another. Rachel became jealous, and at one point she was so upset that she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!” She strived and tried to manipulate the situation, but nothing worked. After years of Rachel’s needless frustration, in God’s timing He enabled her to conceive and give birth to an extraordinary son, Joseph, whom God raised up to become prime minister of Egypt and save the family of Israel during the famine.

The principle is that when it’s taking longer than you think it should, God has something bigger, something better than you imagine. Don’t get upset, frustrated, or discouraged. Don’t try to force things to work out. God remembers you, and He’s listened to you. Trust His timing. Trust His ways. Let Him do His work. He always finishes what He starts.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father, prepare me for the week ahead. Strengthen my mind, steady my emotions, and align my steps with Your will. Help me to rise above every challenge, distraction, or pressure that comes my way. Teach me how to make meaningful progress every single day of this week. Help me to keep You involved in everything concerning me, both big and small. Take my hand, Lord, and walk with me through this week. Thank You that You will bring to completion the good work You began in me. Thank You that the fulfillment of my dreams is on the way, even the secret frustrations of my heart. I believe that You will complete my incompletions and finish what You’ve started. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾

Pass the Test

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“O God, remember that my life is but a breath, and I will never again feel happiness.”
Job 7:7, NLT

TODAY’S WORD:

Job, a man of great integrity, suffered the loss of his children, business, and health. His wife told him to curse God and die, and his three friends tried to convince him that the troubles were God’s judgment. Job sat down among the ashes and hit bottom. He didn’t think he would ever be happy again, and he wanted to die. What’s interesting is that even though Job gave up, God did not give up on him. Job clung to his faith and finally looked up to the heavens and said, “Yet I know my Redeemer lives. I will trust Him.” Amazingly, after Job passed the test of faith, “God restored his fortunes and gave him twice what he had before.”

In difficult times, don’t believe the enemy’s “never” lies. “You’ll never be happy, never get well, never get out of debt.” The enemy wouldn’t be telling you that if he didn’t know there was something great in front of you. When trouble hits, instead of having a defeated mentality, have a double mentality. God is setting you up for a double dose of blessing.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father, thank You for the gift of this morning and the freedom to lift my heart to You. Keep me close to You today. Guard my mind from fear, my mouth from careless words, and my steps from anything that pulls me away from Your best. Fill this day with peace and gratitude, and let joy rise stronger than pressure. Help me walk in wisdom, patience, and quiet confidence. Thank You that You are right there with me in my times of testing. I believe that no matter what comes my way, it’s not a surprise to You, and You still have me in the palm of Your hand. I know that You are on the throne and breakthroughs are coming. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾

Second Chances

Today's Scripture:

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.” So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh.…Jonah 3:1-3

Today's Word:

Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian Empire that conquered the ten northern tribes of Israel and deported many of them in 722 B.C. The Assyrian Empire was known for its massive armies and brutal treatment of conquered peoples and prisoners. When God commissioned Jonah to go to Nineveh to warn them of impending judgment, his fear of what might happen to him at their hands was understandable.

So instead of journeying east to Nineveh, Jonah boarded a ship headed in the opposite direction across the Mediterranean Sea. Jonah represents all who have ignored or disobeyed the will of God and found themselves in a season of discipline. But Jonah also illustrates the fact that God provides second chances for those who are willing to turn around (repent) and submit to His will. After Jonah was rescued from the great fish, he went and preached to Nineveh.

Failure to obey God does not put us beyond God’s grace. He is faithful to forgive and give us new opportunities to serve Him.

Sin forsaken is the best evidence of sin forgiven.

Prayer for Today:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God of mercy who always provides a fresh start and a second chance. When I stumble and fall short, Your unfailing love lifts me up and place my feet on solid ground again. Thank You that my past mistakes do not define my future, because Your grace is bigger than my failures. Renew a steadfast spirit within me, wash my heart clean, and guide my steps forward in Your light. Give me the strength to let go of regret and walk boldly into the new purpose You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾

Sulking

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?…..Jonah 4:9

TODAY'S WORD:

The book of Jonah is a remarkable testimony of a man who learned valuable lessons in unusual ways. The fact that he wrote his story indicates he came to understand what God was teaching him. God wanted to pass the lessons on to us. One of the greatest lessons has to do with God’s compassion even when we’re in rebellion against Him or when we are feeling resentful toward Him. Just as we help our own children when their emotions spiral one way or the other, so the Lord helps us.

No matter where we are in life, God is always with us—when we are obeying Him, when we are running from Him, when we are struggling to view others as He views them, and even when we are sulking about something as ordinary as a wilting plant.

Lift up your heart and rejoice today that you have a God who understands your moods and who intends to transform you into the image of His Son from one degree of glory to another as you gaze on Him and contemplate His beauty (2 Corinthians 3:18).

When our trials come…it is our joy and comfort to lift our faces heavenward and to go on, standing on the promises of God.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father, You know everything about me. You see me when I sit and when I rise, and You perceive my thoughts from far away. Thank You for Your love that does not require me to explain myself, wear a mask, or hold back my tears. When words fail me and my heart feels heavy with things I cannot articulate, You already know the ache inside my chest. You understand my thoughts, my fears, my unspoken disappointments, and the secret joys I carry. Lord, when others misunderstand my mentions or misjudge my spirit, I rest in peace that You see the truth of who I am. You meet me in my weakness with infinite grace and tenderness. Fill my quiet moments with the assurance of Your presence, and teach me how to rest in Your complete understanding. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾

Let God Lead

Today's Scripture:

A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. …Proverbs 16:9

Today's Word:

It is true that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. But it is also true that straight lines rarely exist in real life. More often than not, the plans we make involve many twists and turns that we had not planned on encountering. One measure of our trust in God is seen in how we navigate the unexpected changes in our plans.

Jonah had a plan—rather than obey God and head east to Nineveh, his plan was to go west to Tarshish (modern Spain) in order to avoid meeting his enemies face-to-face. But God’s original plan did not change. Instead, God changed Jonah’s plan by casting him into the sea and having him swallowed by a great fish. When faced with the likelihood of dying as fish food, Jonah repented of his disobedience and decided to submit to God’s original plan. Even then, Jonah’s story does not end well. He was not happy with God’s mercy toward Nineveh, and Scripture leaves him in a state of self-pity.

A valuable lesson from Jonah’s life is that God’s plans will not be foiled by human failure or intervention. If God changes your plans, seek His will and follow His lead.

God has no problems, only plans.

Prayer for Today:

Father, I come to You acknowledging that I often try to run my life on my own terms. I carry the weight of tomorrow, manage outcomes that were never mine to fix, and let anxiety replace my peace. Forgive me for running ahead of You. I choose to open my hands and give You control. Lead me not where I think I should go, but where You know I need to be. Open the doors I have missed and close the ones I should avoid. Replace my rushing with Your wisdom, and my worrying with Your deep, quiet peace. Help me to walk at Your pace and in Your direction. I trust that Your plan is better than anything I could map out for myself. I am ready to follow. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾

Look to Others

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

So [Jonah] prayed to the Lord, and said, “Ah, Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!”….Jonah 4:2-3

TODAY’S WORD:

The Assyrians were powerful and brutal. Jonah disobeyed God’s command to go and preach to them because he was afraid of what they might do to him. When he eventually went and the Assyrians repented, Jonah was not happy because they were spared judgment.

Jonah fell into the trap of being more concerned about himself than about others. His very words—“It is better for me”—indicate that his priority was on his own desires rather than the well-being of others—even others who had been his enemies in the past. Instead of rejoicing at the Assyrians’ repentance, Jonah was mad at God for having mercy on them.

The apostle Paul wrote that we should look not only to our own interests but also to the interests of others (Philippians 2:3-5)—the very attitude that Jesus Himself demonstrated.

Forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, and the waste of spirit.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father, I come to You asking for a heart that looks beyond my own needs and notices the people around me. Lord, You know how easy I fall into the trap of selfishness, focusing only on my own schedule, comfort, and desires. Forgive me for the times I turn inward and fail to see the burdens carried by my family, friends, and neighbors. Lord, grant me the grace to look not only to my own interests, but also to the interest of others. Give me the mind of Christ, that I might love my neighbor as myself, serving with a generous, patient, and humble spirit. Nudge my heart gently throughout the day, and let Your love flow through me so that my actions reflect Your goodness to a world in need. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾

It Is Well

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.….Jonah 4:1

TODAY’S WORD:

When Christian author Jennifer Rothschild was a teenager, the doctor told her she was going blind. Returning home with her parents, everyone was silent in the car. Jennifer recalls, “When we got home, I went straight to our old upright piano…. I started to play a song I had never played before. I could no longer see to read music. I played the song by ear. Yes, that was a gift from God, that ability to play by ear. But the greater gift to me was what I played…. I played ‘It Is Well with My Soul.’ I think God, even then, was reminding me what He had already embedded in my spirit—that while it was not well with my circumstances, it was probably not ever going to be well with my circumstances, but because of Jesus, He really had already made it well with my soul.”

Jonah became very upset with the way he perceived God was treating him, but he was wrong. The Lord was blessing him, molding him, and using him in ways we are still talking about today. Even when you feel upset with the events of life, you can trust the Lord.

So I chose, even then, to believe He was good and to trust Him

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father, thank You for Your Son, the Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank You for His mercy and grace. When life feels overwhelming and troubles rise around me, I come to You seeking peace. You see the places where my heart feels tired and uncertain. Grant me peace that goes beyond my understanding. Help me to trust You even when the path ahead is hidden. Strengthen my faith when trials come. Remind me that Your grace is enough for every hard moment I face. Thank You for Your love and for the comfort of knowing I am never alone. No matter what comes my way, I choose to rest in Your hands. I thank You that it is well with my soul. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.🙏🏾🙌🏾
