1) Obligatory (fard) prayers: in accordance with the instruction of Allah, the Exalted.
2) Sunnah prayers: in accordance with the Sunnah of the Noble Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (ﷺ).
3) Nafl (voluntary) prayers: the voluntary prayers we perform in Tahajjud before the Fajr adhan, 20 minutes after sunrise, after Maghrib, and at the end of ‘Isha; or the two rak‘ahs of Tahiyyat al-Wudu and Tahiyyat al-Masjid. Before offering them, every Muslim should keep this thought in mind that…

🌹3) These two “nafl prayers” are to thank Allah, Lord of the Worlds, who gave me the opportunity to make up for any shortcomings in my obligatory duties.

Note: 📚 According to a Hadith Qudsi, through voluntary prayers a servant becomes so close to Allah that Allah begins to love him, and this will be a means—along with elevated ranks in Paradise—of attaining the companionship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as well! 🌹 Insha’Allah
