In Scripture, oil represents anointing, assignment, and the presence of God. And whenever oil is present, it attracts both the hungry… and the opportunistic.
Even Acts shows this pattern. When Simon saw the power of the Holy Spirit, he didn’t want relationship with God — he wanted the power for himself (Acts 8:18–19). He wanted the anointing without the surrender.
Here are a few truths to anchor you:
1. Some people are drawn to your oil, not your heart.
They’re attracted to:
• Your favor
• Your wisdom
• Your influence
• Your access
• Your peace
But they may not honor your process, your boundaries, or your cost.
2. Oil is costly.
Remember the woman with the alabaster jar in John 12. That oil was expensive. It represented sacrifice.
Your oil cost you:
• Tears
• Pruning
• Betrayal
• Obedience
• Private crushing
Not everyone who benefits from your oil understands the crushing that produced it.
