Sometimes, when God blesses you, it's in the most subtle way. Like you're meant to embark on a scavenger hunt to find the good. Sometimes, God just wallops you upside the head and dares you deny the magnitude of what's before you.
GiveNOLADay was that wallop upside the head for us. We have many gifts and graces, but fundraising isn't (yet... maybe...?) one of them. And then, one month ago, Wayne and Charlene Babovich came out of the woodwork to help us chart a path forward. Board members appealed to family and friends for financial support. Volunteers tabled at area churches to share Silence Broken's message. And then came old friends (Claudia Barker) and new friends to help us take our message public on local and regional radio and TV news.
And by the end of the day on Tuesday, our community's generous gift of time, talents, and treasure helped us raise more than $15,000. (To give you some context, our operating budget in 2025 was about $30,000. So those funds are going to do some heavy lifting!)
Whether you volunteered, fundraised, or donated, words can't express our gratitude. Thank you for making our work possible, thank you for believing in us, and thank you for reminding survivors that they are seen and valued.
All our love,
Mary and Erica
