A Conversation with Dr. Syed Barmaver: Learning Islam with Clarity and Charity

How should Christians understand Islam?

At our next Fellowship Night, we’ll sit down with Dr. Syed Barmaver for a live conversation as we begin learning what Muslims believe, how Islam understands God, Scripture, Jesus, salvation, and the Christian faith.

This will be an honest, respectful, onstage interview followed by audience Q&A.

Our goal is simple: to help Christians listen carefully, think clearly, and engage our Muslim neighbors with both conviction and love.

Whether you know a lot about Islam or almost nothing, this night will help you better understand one of the world’s most influential religions and prepare you for more meaningful conversations.

"This is the devastating result of the great lie that fulfillment is found in freedom from the burden of children." -Seth Dillon, CEO of Babylon Bee

Our population collapse would be much less severe if we could, at minimum, stop k*lling our children. Check out this week's Family Meeting for more of our conversation on GenZ, marriage and children.

Why is it so hard, when having a discussion with a Mormon or Jehovah’s Witness, to help them understand and set them free with the truth of the gospel?

“It’s as difficult and as easy for God to save them as anyone else. It’s always a spiritual problem, and God can change their hearts.” – Amy Hall

We had a great time at our March Apologetics fellowship night!

We learned about the "Reject, Reframe, Restate" methodology and then had a chance to put it into action as we watched clips from LDS apologist Jacob Hansen.

We also had two Latter Day Saints that came and participated in some of the discussion!

This month we’re doing something a little different.

We’re going to watch clips from a Mormon apologist on YouTube and practice responding together. Not to mock or attack, but to learn how to think clearly, recognize worldview assumptions, and respond to real arguments in real time.

Think of it like a live apologetics workshop.

If you’ve ever wondered:

How do I respond to Mormon theology?
What questions should I ask?
How do I keep a conversation focused?

This will be a great night to learn and practice together.

No debate experience needed, just come ready to think and engage.

Bring a friend and join us!

Just released!!

You can have an answer for every question, a response to every rebuttal...but we have to remember that there is always a person behind every question. Not a computer seeking inputs.

This is a book perhaps unlike anything you've ever read. It's formatted as a conversation (a bit different from a typical novel) and is focused on a man named Peter, a former atheist now committed Christian, and his friend Thomas, someone who was raised in church but is now doubting and questioning his faith. You are a fly on the wall as this conversation unfolds.

Most importantly the book is authored by my close friend, R. Garcia. He's just the person to write this kind of book and I must encourage those interested in evangelism and apologetics to check it out. Link in the comments!

Bonus content: There is a podcast by the author himself that accompanies every chapter, reviewing the highlights and main teaching points. It's completely free.

We had a great turn out for our February Apologetics Fellowship Night! The presentation followed a time of great discussion. We had people that were familiar with Mormonism, to those who knew virtually nothing about it. I'm confident that everyone learned something new and came away more confident.

We probably had seven different churches represented in the room last night.
