Psalm 91:1-2 (ESV)
91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Health, protection, peace, comfort...we all want those things to be a part of our lives. In Scripture those things are promised with the presence of the Lord. The blessings of the Lord are found in His shelter, and if you find your life is full of chaos and fear, your Heavenly Father is the refuge you need!

"Like sand through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives."

That's a pretty dramatic way to put it, but it's true. I suppose that's why one of the most popular soap operas of all time chose to start each show with that line. When we begin living out our days as children we have this feeling of invincibility and we hardly give time any thought at all. But as we age we become more aware of how fast the days are flying by.

READ PSALM 90Psalm 90:10-12 (ESV)10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.11 Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you? 12 So teach us to number our...

Human emotions.

They are so fragile, unstable, and changing like the shifting of wind. Think of a small child, for example. When you give them an ice cream cone they will shout, "This is the greatest day ever!" But if they ask for another and you say no, they might respond, "My life is ruined!"

Forever.

That's a big word. Do you know how long forever is?

We can't truly comprehend "forever" and we certainly have no understanding of what "eternity" will look and feel like either. And yet, in Psalm 89 we see God promising forever to King David and the establishment of his throne.

What exactly is the promise?

READ PSALM 89:1-18Psalm 89:3-4 (ESV)3 You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: 4 ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” SelahForever. That's a big word. Do you know how long forever is? We can...

"Can I go with you?"

The young boy said to his father as he was leaving the house to run some errands. The trip would require a stop at the bank, Home Depot, and possibly one more store. The father grabbed the hand-written list of supplies he would need to pick up and bring back to the house. He didn't think his son would enjoy going with him to all those places, but he said to his boy, "Are you sure you want to come?"

READ PSALM 87Psalm 87:5-6 (ESV)5 And of Zion it shall be said,“This one and that one were born in her”; for the Most High himself will establish her. 6 The Lord records as he registers the peoples, “This one was born there.” Selah"Can I go with you?" The young boy said to his father as he wa...

Forgiveness is a wonderful blessing to receive, but it is often difficult to extend. Do you wrestle in your heart with unforgiveness? Are you still holding onto offenses? Have you made amends with someone but deep in the recesses of your heart you still hold onto resentment toward them?

My friend, it's time to let it go once and for all.

READ PSALM 86Psalm 86:5-7(ESV)5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace.7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me.Forgiveness is a wonderful blessing to receive, bu...
