We are taking the next two Sundays to close out Ephesians. It has been a great book and we wanted to make sure we were able to give it a proper conclusion. This week we are going to be looking at how Paul talks about the church throughout Ephesians.

Friday: What passage/verse in Ephesians spoke to you?

Saturday: Ephesians 1:3-6 Paul is writing to the Church at Ephesus and he is using plural pronouns. Do you tend to read as if scripture is speaking just to you or do you think in terms of others?

Monday: Ephesians 2:19-22 We are members of the household of God, built on the foundation. What does/should this house look like?

Tuesday: Ephesians 3:7-11 How can the church make the “manifold wisdom of God” known?

Wednesday: Ephesians 4:11-16 What is the responsibility of leadership in the church? What is the responsibility of the saints?

Thursday: Ephesians 5:25-33 Christ loves the church. How does comparing husbands and wives to Christ and the church help you see His love toward us?

As Paul is concluding his letter, he tells the Ephesians to be strong and he takes this moment to encourage them in how and why they need to be strong. I hope as we have gone through this book that you too have gained strength in the Lord.

Friday: Ephesians 6:10-12 We do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Do you feel like this statement is true? Do you spend your time fighting against flesh and blood or do you fight against cosmic powers and evil forces?

Saturday: Ephesians 6:13 The armor of God helps you stand firm. Do you feel like you need protection from the enemy in your day-to-day life?

Monday: Ephesians 6:14-17 As you go through each piece of armor take a moment to reflect on how that will protect you. Do you need protection in each of those areas?

Tuesday: Ephesians 6:17-18 Most of the armor is defensive, what is the only offensive part of the armor? How are you supposed to use the sword?

Wednesday: Ephesians 6:19-20 Paul asks for specific prayers for himself. Who do you pray for specifically? Who do you ask to pray for you?

Thursday: Ephesians 6:21-24 What Christians outside of Fairway Bible Church are you talking to, praying for, and encouraging in their walk?

This week we continue our focus on orderly relationships. First between parents and children and then in the workplace. As we read Paul’s words to the church in Ephesus, it is important to remember that these words were meant for us today and not written to address a first-century cultural issue.

Friday June 12th: Ephesians 6:1 - Why is it right to obey your parents? Should a child obey an ungodly parent’s instruction to do wrong? (Hint: Ezekiel 20:18-19, Acts 5:29).

Saturday June 13th: Ephesians 6:2-3 - What was the promise associated with the commandment to honor your father and Mother? What does that mean for us today?

Monday June 14th: Ephesians 6:4 - What are some of the things fathers do that provoke their children to anger? What are they commanded to do instead? How do they do that without provoking their children to anger?

Tuesday June 16th: Ephesians 6:5 - List some reasons why you should obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling. List some reasons why you should obey your earthly masters with a sincere heart. (Hint Psalms 75:6-7). Should a worker obey an ungodly employer’s instruction to do wrong? (Hint: Ezekiel 20:18-19, Acts 5:29).

Wednesday June 17th: Ephesians 6:5-8 - What do you think Paul means by saying obey your earthly masters, 1.) “with fear and trembling”, and 2.) “with a sincere heart” as you would Christ”?

Thursday June 18th: Ephesians 6:9 - What does Paul say here about treating those who serve you? What should you stop doing? What do you need to know about God?

This passage can be misunderstood when talking about the role of the husband and the wife but when we recognize the comparison of Christ and the Church it becomes much clearer as to what love, respect and submitting looks like.

Friday: Ephesians 5:22 What does submit mean? What does it look like?

Saturday: Ephesians 5:23-24 Why is it important to recognize the husband is head as Christ is head? How can this passage be misunderstood and misrepresented by husbands? By wives?

Monday: Ephesians 5:25-27 What does loving your wife look like for a husband? What is the impact of this love?

Tuesday: Ephesians 5:28-30 How would you act/feel if Jesus was your husband?

Wednesday: Ephesians 5:31-32 Man and wife are one flesh. Christ and the church are one flesh. How do you think Jesus feels when people talk bad about his bride/flesh/church?

Thursday: Ephesians 5:33 Does the church respect her husband the way she should?

Put off/Put on. Walk in light/Walk in darkness. Paul is giving the Ephesian saints comparisons between how we used to walk and how we should walk and we continue to look at these comparisons this week.

Friday: Ephesians 5:1-2 We are told to imitate Christ. What does it look like to walk as Jesus walked?

Saturday: Ephesians 5:3-5 Sin is not proper and is out of place among the saints? What is the eternal state of the perpetual sinner?

Monday: Ephesians 5:6-10 Who are you partnering with: light or dark? Does your fruit agree with your answer to the last question?

Tuesday: Ephesians 5:11-14 Why is avoiding darkness not enough? Why should we also expose it?

Wednesday: Ephesians 5:15-17 Why should we walk wise? What does time have to do with the way we walk?

Thursday: Ephesians 5:18-21 When you are filled with the Spirit of God there is a song and a thanksgiving in your heart. Do you have a song in your heart? What does it mean to “submit to one another”?
