Protecting Your Family Against Gaming Disorder and Online Predators talk on May 17 from 3-5pm in the Main Sanctuary

04/30/2015

Our next children at risk meeting is May 17th at 3:00 pm.

We will be hosting (in the main sanctuary- 3:00 pm) someone who I would love for you to invite the youth groups, and parents, and school, and anyone else you think would benefit. I’ve heard him speak to both adults and kids – he did it once for Monty’s group at Rancho community. (The thing we used to host here) Every kid, and parent, should hear this.

His name is Any Doan, MD, PHD. It’s called Hooked on Games! The Lure and Cost of Video Game and Internet Addiction……

“IT’s a multi billion dollar industry and is in the business of creating fun and enticing games that can be addictive. As addicted gamers feat on digital indulgences, real life is neglected and their reality crumbles around them.”

He is a physician with a research background in neuroscience, who battled his own addictions with video games. He would invest over 20,000 hours of playing time….. it almost destroyed his marriage, his family, and his career. His testimony is amazing….. and the info on what excessive gaming does to the mind is scary. He is a believer, and he also brings out how “predators” are now grooming their victims through gaming as well…… it’s sooo scary.

At the Justice Matters Conference, Ernie Allen shared that President Reagan recognized the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with the opening of a poem. Below is the poem for your reading. We hope it inspires you too.

One Man Awake by Helen Kromer

One man awake

Can awaken another

The second can awaken

His next door brother

The three awake can

Rouse the town

By turning the whole place

Upside down

And the many awake

Make such a fuss

They finally awaken

The rest of us

One man up

With the dawn in his eyes -

Multiplies
