Letโs all congratulate and give our Lord all the praise for the promotion of our dear Sister Corporal Madelyn Capers. ๐๐พ๐
Corporal Madelyn Capers has been with the Mount Pleasant Police Department since 2020. She was recently promoted to Corporal in the Patrol Bureau. Cpl. Capers is also the 2024 Mount Pleasant Police Department Officer of the Year. Prior to her promotion, Cpl. Capers was a Training Officer on Patrol. Cpl. Capers is also a part of the Recruiting and Retention Board, Bike Patrol, Hiring Board, Events Committee, Social Media Team, and the Mentor Program. She was asked:
1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the Town of Mount Pleasant. It looks a lot different from when I was younger. More people and more traffic as well but there's an Aldi now, so that makes up for it.
2. What are your law enforcement career goals?
Currently my law enforcement goals are to rise through the ranks and teach as many officers as possible to be better versions of themselves. I hope to be able to help the department advance as well.
3. Why did you become a police officer?
I was infatuated with forensics and crime scene investigation. I watched an unhealthy amount of CSI growing up. Even though itโs not like the real thing, it still had a big influence on me. I'm a science kind of person to begin with, so that helped. Besides being interested in Crime Scene, I also have a niche for figuring things out and solving issues. It's nice to be able to help people figure out their legal situations.
4. What is your favorite thing about being a police officer?
It's meeting all kinds of people. The residents of the town are by far mostly appreciative of us and show kindness when they can.
