What we have is a group of men who by conspiracy promulgated the Babylonian philosophy of a man being God through the Greeks and Romans. This philosophy is known as Trinitarianism. When brethren came to the knowledge that Trinitarianism was unscriptural, in their zeal they established among Pentecostal brethren, the Oneness Doctrine. Instead of God in 3 persons, they substituted God in 3 manifestations, Father in Creation, Son in Salvation, and Holy Spirit in the Church. These men, instead of having God in 3 persons, have God playing 3 roles.
What these men failed to realize was this dogma was simply a branch of Trinitarianism known as Modalism. Modalism was established in the 425 Nicean Council that declared Jesus is not a part of God, but very God of very God, Fully God and Fully man.
This doctrine ignores the preaching of the Apostles, Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God, whom God anointed, whom God raised from the dead, whom God glorified, whom God appointed Judge of the Living and the Dead. Like the Trinitarians, the Modalists use the same proof scriptures, Joh 1:1-14, Joh 8:58, Joh 10:30, Col 2:9, Tit 2:5. ITi 3:16, among others to prove essentially the same thing as the Trinitarians, namely, God came down from heaven, emptied himself of his "Godhood" and died on the cross. They refuse to reconcile their doctrine with Jesus' bold statement in his prayer in John 17,
Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Both doctrines, Trinity and Oneness are contrary to the Apostles' preaching and teaching for God did not come down, become a baby in a manger and die on the cross. God is not a man, and no man is God. This fact is substantiated by the scriptures of the Apostles and Prophets of our Lord Jesus.
Unless a man or woman is willing to re-examine the preaching and teaching of the Apostles, they will languish in one of these 2 camps, to the exclusion of the truth, "Jesus Christ is the Son of God." He is that man God anointed and appointed. As Peter preached, "This Jesus has God raised up, whereof we are witnesses." "This same Jesus whom you have crucified, God has made both Lord and Christ."
