NELA Players' Guild The NELA Players are dedicated to promoting the dramatic arts in North Louisiana by performing classic and contemporary dramas, comedies, and Shakespeare.

The NELA Players Guild is a touring acting troupe dedicated to promoting the dramatic arts in North Louisiana. We focus on performing classics plays, Shakespeare, contemporary dramas, comedies, adaptations of literary works, and original plays. The NELA Players are a not-for-profit group. Productions performed by the Troupe are frequently used as fund-raisers by the organization hosting the perfor

mance. Under the direction of Amber Medlin Higginbotham, the NELA Players have frequently collaborated with other arts organizations such as CA Studios, Strauss Theatre Center, The Dixie Theatre, and SYAA. Formed in 2011, the NELA Players grew out of the Auburn Street Players, a troupe that was formed in 2003 based out of Auburn Avenue Presbyterian who frequently performed works by Shakespeare and Gilbert & Sullivan. It is our goal to perform 1-3 productions a year. We hope you will check in with us frequently to see what exciting shows we are producing!

Even very young children can benefit from watching Shakespeare (key word - WATCHING.) Shakespeare wrote plays that are meant to be watched. Forcing children to read the plays tends to foster an idea that the Bard is dull. However, watching a good production can change all that, which is why it's so important to perform Shakespeare and perform him well!

Helen Mirren thinks that you need to be a teenager to enjoy Shakespeare, but the sooner children encounter the plays in performance the less likely they will dismiss them as difficult and dull

"I think acting is a mixture of instinct, imagination and inventiveness. All you can learn as an actor is basic technique."

RIP, Sir Christopher Lee. You were one of the greats.
