NHC Royal Rangers Outpost 42

NHC Royal Rangers Outpost 42 God is faithful to bring to completion what He starts.

Royal Ranges is a ministry to boys that gives them a picture of Christlike manhood and a process for pursuing it – a lifelong effort that requires endurance, patience and persistence.

He is mentally, physically, and spiritually alert. "Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." –1 Timothy 4:7,8

Here’s one more picture that was located on Eagles Wings Outpost 1 pictures. The young man in the middle who is being prayed for was the safety guy for the rock wall. His name is Josiah. This is a great representation of the church, two different outposts are present in this picture (outpost 10, Journey and Outpost 42, NHC) praying a blessing over Josiah.

Special message from Commander Jon is below:

Hey everyone, if you don’t already know, Royal Rangers is a ministry that is near and dear to me. I wasn’t a Royal Ranger growing up but when I joined as a Commander in 2017, I knew this was a ministry that God was calling me to. In 2018 I attended my first ND Statewide Campout and knew right then this ministry was important for the future generation of Christlike men. I only missed 1 statewide since 2018. It is the event that marks the summer and the year. I am so very grateful and blessed to be part of this ministry.

While our outpost is still new to the district, in only 3 years we have seen an explosion of growth and I foresee many more participants in the years to come. The last two years has been 3 attendees for statewide and this year we brought 11 total campers. God is amazing and his timing is perfect.

I want to say a special Thank You to the following Royal Ranger Boys:
Teddy, Graham, Dominic, Bradley, Kade, Ford, and Legend. Thank you for coming to camp and I pray that what God started at camp will continue to grow in you and that you will begin/continue to grow spiritually in the Lord. You guys were amazing campers and I look forward to passing on skills that can aid you in life. You guys rock!

And I can’t forget the amazing team of adults who assisted me this year.
Commander Bob, your service to the outpost does not go unnoticed. Your unwavering commitment to discipleship and passing on knowledge, both practical and spiritual is invaluable. I especially appreciate your assistance in cooking and helping to wrangle the boys.
Alex, thank you to your dedication to your son and all your assistance this weekend. I know this was your first campout in this type of setting and I appreciate your willingness to jump in and help wherever. It was not only a great help to me, but also a great example for your son and the boys. That is what mentorship is all about.
Pastor James, thank you for coming along and bringing your son. I know the trip was a little hard on you because he got sick and was not feeling great but your presence, mentorship, and assistance to the outpost, as well as to your son was spot on. I appreciate your continued support and willingness to help spread the word as well as continue to mentor and guide us, as a whole and individually for myself.

And I have a special thank you to the wives of these men who joined us on the trip. It may have been difficult without them for a couple of days but your prayers and support were felt even in Devils Lake. Additionally thanks to the parents of the boys for allowing your sons to attend such an event. Your boys will need your continued support as they continue to grow in the Lord.

Lastly, I couldn’t do all this without the help of my wife, Jill. She helped me shop and stock all the food for the trip as well as helped pre-cook some of the items so we did t have to spend so much time cooking. You are awesome and I couldn’t do any of this with out you.

This was an amazing weekend and I look forward to many more weekends like it in the years to come.

Good afternoon all, we have updates from the NHC Outpost. They arrived at the church and all the boys have been taken back to their homes. Don’t worry their parents picked them up.

Commander Jon shared more updates as far as the activities from today. First it was breakfast. Hash-browns, eggs, bacon, gravy, and for the brave souls…peppers, mushrooms, and onions added to the bowl. Then it was time for Sunday morning service. The Holy Spirit was present in that moment and showed up. The boys learned what it meant in the Lords Prayer the phrase “your Kingdom come” and what it means to “Go! In Jesus name”. Prior to the service was the awards ceremony where two of our boys placed in the top three of their age groups! Congratulations and good shooting Bradley and Kade. After service they said their goodbyes and loaded the trailer and headed for home.

All in all we have heard the boys had a great time. Some of the highlights that were mentioned was the food, the games, the service, the trampoline thing and making new friends. Praise God for an amazing time.

Commander Jon said he would be sending us a special message for later. So be looking for that shortly. But here are some pictures from today’s events and the entire group. All of the pictures we are sharing are precious moments in the boys life and we Thank God lives were touched and the boys and adults were ministered to.

Day 2 update from Statewide Campout. We are being told the day was fillies with lots and lots and more and more activities. Here’s the list of what Commander Jon told us went on…

First was breakfast of biscuits and gravy and eggs and bacon. Yummy! Then it was morning service talking about Peter and his life.

Then it was challenge time. Most out posts presented the boys opportunities to stretch themselves in various games and competitions. There was water balloon launch, archery, knife throwing, tomahawk throwing, BB gun shooting, wiffle ball launch, rope making (for the little guys), bouncy trampoline thing, and the rock wall! The boys had a ton of fun.

Afterwards there was lunch then more rounds of challenges and the Derby Car race. Graham Lenertz’s car took second place for speed in the Adventure Rangers age group! Way to go Graham.

After all that, more food was needed to keep these boys fueled, taco in a boat, prepared by Commander Ron Cathy of the Minnesota Royal Rangers. After that was evening service, following Peter in his journey from being called by Jesus to follow him through the death and resurrection and eventual stage where Peter received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Lastly, the boys enjoyed a round or three of smores. The outpost left Commander Jon at the fire at some point in the evening. We feel like he was probably talking to other commanders … he needs that time sometimes to connect and get ideas and continue building relationships with other commanders, so we won’t fault him for being left behind.

Here are some pictures from various activities.

We have an update from ND Statewide Campout. Day 1 is complete and all the campers are getting ready for sleepy time.

The day was filled with setting up camp, exploring the camp grounds, playing on various camp things like rope swings, mini zip lines, bouncy floor thing (we have no idea what Commander Jon was trying to describe and he didn’t take any pictures…we will bug him tomorrow to get pictures), and a few other things like ping pong pool and a mini golf course.

Supper was fantastic (at least that’s what we were told…we never get any of it). Steak bites, corn on the cob and potato cubes (like home fries). Then it was peach berry cobbler for desert.

The outpost then went to the first service, which included outpost vs outpost tug of war, the outpost put on a skit, and had worship time and a message. At least 1 camper was saved tonight, we will get more info and confirm tomorrow. But still, Praise God that lives are being changed!! Then it was clean up and bed down for the night.

Here are a few pictures from day 1.

Folks, Commander Jon is going to wear us out. This happens every Year during statewide Campout. He gets overly excited and well, he’s just a big kid at the root of it all. Like the Rangers motto, he is READY! He is currently sitting at the church freaking out thinking he forgot all his passengers.

The message below is from Pastor James, ““Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to live together in unity!”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭133‬:‭1‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Praying for an awesome time this weekend! Cannot wait to see God move!”

We are ready to see what God has in store for Outpost 42 this weekend.

Today is the day we LAUNCH! (That’s our theme for statewide and fitting). Stay tuned to the page for pictures throughout the event.

Only 1 more sleep away from the 2026 ND Statewide Campout. Do you have all your gear ready? Don’t forget Outpost 42, be at the Northland Harvest church parking lot no later than 8am tomorrow morning to head off on an adventure!

Commander Jon might be freaking out a little…he said he can’t find his sleeping bag or his pillow or his tent. We are confident he will find it all. (Ps, he’s been packing and gearing up for this adventure since his birthday on May 1. We saw his garage and his sleeping bag, tent, and pillow are there). He will be fine.

He shared a pictures from last year so we figured we would share it with you. He claimed this was a picture of him sneaking around the camp at night waiting to scare one of the other campers. We couldn’t see the picture so hopefully you all get it.

Good Morning Outpost 42! What a beautiful day it looks to be. This is the Outpost 42 CRO (Chief Reminding Officer) reminding all boys and parents who are signed up for the 2026 ND Statewide Campout. We only have 2 days before we head off on an adventure!

Parents, please have your boys at the Northland Harvest church parking lot no later than 8am on Friday May 29. They should have all their gear, clothes, money, and whatever else they need from the list of items on the itinerary. We are leaving town at 8:45am sharp!

Commander Jon told us he is super excited to see all the boys and is most looking forward to the food, fun, and fellowship. His exact words were “I am more excited to go to Statewide Campout than most of the guys. It is my favorite trip every year!!”

We will see you all on Friday morning at 8am!
