This is NKFI's USA based manager, Kelly Sadler, sending you greetings and good news.
I have just returned from an amazing site visit to the mission-field office in South Korea and am happy to report on all that I witnessed there, as well as share with you a stunning photo from my visit to the DMZ. Truly a life changing experience. (View from the Aegibong Peace Ecological Park observatory. South Korea to the left, North Korea to the right.)
On 5/29/2026 NKFI, Korea officially announced and celebrated the launch of the New Korea Hope Broadcast (NKHB). With so many projects and people facing increased threats in key areas throughout neighboring countries, as well as restrictions on our ability to send materials into North Korea, NKHB couldn't have become a reality at a better time.
This amplified shortwave radio program is broadcast six days a week (Tue/Thr/Sat 23:00-23:39KST, 9470khz and Mon/Wed/Fri 2:00-3:00KST, 5900khz) sharing news of the outside world, testimonies of North Korean defectors, scripture reading, and Letters of Hope, a program that you can participate in directly. This programming is seeking to:
- To provide independent, uncensored Korean-language programming designed to bypass state censorship and reach listeners in North Korea.
- Allow people from all regions to send letters of encouragement into North Korea and thus break down state driven perceptions of the outside world.
- Be a direct response to recent U.S. funding cuts for cross-border media and international broadcasting projects targeting the DPRK.
- Broadcasts have actively utilized shortwave bands using a 200kW transmitter to push past jamming attempts
- The broadcast is on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 14:00-14:30 KST on frequencies 7200 kHz to 9470 kHz.
The Facts -
Today, 25 million people in North Korea have almost no access to information from the outside world. Even at this very moment, somewhere in North Korea, someone is quietly turning on a small radio. They close the windows and listen under a blanket with the volume turned very low, because being discovered could lead to punishment. But despite these threats, they turn on that radio so that they can hear the voices of the outside world.
During Kenneth's 735 imprisonment in North Korea (2012-2014), he was sustained and encouraged by the many letters sent to him stating "You are not forgotten". Knowing the impact of these letters on his life during those truly dark days, NKFI has launched the Letters of Hope program, allowing you to send a letter of encouragement, hope, and love into North Korea. And we want to invite you to be part of this voice of hope.
To send a “Letter of Hope” to the people of North Korea simply visit NKHB.org/en and click on the Letter of Hope link. Once received, our staff will translate your letter and will read it on air.
In addition to seeking letters of hope, we are also seeking out 1000 Signal Missionaries to stand with NKHB. For just $1 a day ($30 a month), you can help send a voice of hope into North Korea, acting as a:
- A window to the outside world
- A message of hope
- A light of the Gospel
Your prayers and participation can help change North Korea—and prepare the way for future reunification.
Thank you for your continued support for this vital work. We can't do it without you.
In Christ,
Kelly Sadler
