Our epic journey is based upon living out the Good News that Jesus taught, lived for, and died for. We are a growing and developing community comprised of people of all ages and from all walks of life, who are learning how to live this beautiful, yet complex life together. Some reminders sound more like an invitation than an instruction.

Psalm 62 reminds us that true rest isn't found in having all the answers, controlling every outcome, or carrying every burden ourselves. It is found in God alone.

In a world that constantly asks us to do more, achieve more, and worry more, David offers a different posture: trust, wait, and rest.

If your mind feels busy or your heart feels unsettled this week, take a moment to slow down.

Pause here for a moment.
Take a deep breath.
Let these words remind you that God is your refuge, your hope, and your steady place when everything else feels uncertain.

When we're hurt, it's easy to want people to get what they deserve.
But the cross reminds us of a powerful truth: none of us want what we deserve.
Jesus took our place, and because of that, we're called to trust God with justice instead of taking it into our own hands.

Ever feel spiritually thirsty but not know what to say to God?

David felt that too. He wrote Psalm 63 from a literal desert—parched ground, no water—and used it to pour out his soul to the Lord. "My soul thirsts for you... as in a dry and weary land where there is no water."

His prescription? Earnestly seek. Look to God. Let his steadfast love lead you to worship.

Breath prayer is one of the oldest and simplest forms of Christian contemplative prayer. The idea is beautifully straightforward: you take a short prayer phrase, split it in two, and let it follow the natural rhythm of your breathing—one half on the inhale, one half on the exhale.

It's a practice rooted in the call to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17). Rather than setting aside a formal block of time, breath prayer invites God into the ordinary rhythm of your body—the breath you're already taking all day long.

You don't need fancy words or a quiet retreat center. Just a few minutes, a willing heart, and a phrase that connects you to God. Start with who God is— a quality, a name, a truth about him — and let your exhale be your heart's response to that.

Over a third of the way through, Epikos. The momentum is real—let's keep it going. 📖

This week we're in Psalms 50–56, and Elder Ben Abeyta walks us through some of the heavier themes in this stretch: God's righteous judgment, our sinfulness, and the posture of a contrite heart before him.

But here's the turn. Right in the middle of all that weight, we find this:

"You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?" —Psalm 56:8

God isn't distant from your pain. He's been collecting it. Every restless night, every hard season, every moment you felt unseen—he kept count.

And then Psalm 52 offers this: "I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever."

Wherever you are this week—work, school, family, whatever's heavy—God is for you. He promises to sustain you. Humble yourself before him and let him lift you up.

Sometimes life can make us wonder if God even sees what we’re carrying.

Psalm 8 reminds us that the Creator of the universe has not forgotten you for a single moment.

He sees you, knows you, and cares deeply about your life.

Earthquakes. Crumbling mountains. Armies at the gate.

And right in the middle of it all? A river. A stream of life. A God who doesn't move.

Psalm 46 is a psalm scholars believe Israel recited after victories in battle—and it opens with the world in total chaos. But Discipleship Pastor Jacob Michalski points us to the heart of it: the still center in the storm. A refuge. A sanctuary. A God who is present and unshaken no matter what surrounds us.

"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved." —Psalm 46:4–5

Picture a place where you feel completely at peace. Now let God be that for you—in the middle of whatever chaos this week holds.
