On Sunday, May 14, four of our students received the sacrament of Confirmation at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Milwaukee WI. For the past year, these students and family members have prepared for this special experience of the Holy Spirit.

We are very grateful for Fr. Mike, Deacon Javier, and all the parishioners at St. Francis for welcoming us to celebrate with their wonderful community.

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to lead us on our journey of life.

For our final of the regular academic year, we celebrate our Franciscan Servant Scholars.

These student leaders committ themselves to earning at least 24 hours of service-learning per year and to growing together as a community. Each month we also gather to reflect on the stories of Sts. Francis and Clare of Assisi as we seek to tranform our values into action as we move "from Gospel to life and life to Gospel."

Thanks to all who attended our special Mass recognizing the accomplishments of our students.

Let us continue to pray that we may all learn "what is ours to do" as we continue to love one another as God loves us. ❤️

Congratulations Dr. Spies!

Tonight, we celebrated our annual Iftar.

Ramadan is a time of fasting and renewal in Islam. Beginning at sunrise, Muslims abstain from all food and drink. At sunset, the fast ends with a community Iftar dinner.

Special thanks to the Student Affairs team for sponsoring the Iftar and to the members of the Saudi Club for helping to organize this wonderful event.

We are sharing the of the Franciscan tradition this week!

On Wednesday, Sister Mary Lea Schneider shared a thought-provoking presentation for our FrankTalks discussion series: "Will the Real St. Francis Please Stand Up?" She detailed how interpretations of the saint have changed over time to reflect the needs of the Church and world.

This , Gino Grivetti, Director of University Ministry, gave a presentation on the just war theory in the thought of Andrey Sheptytsky and Oscar Romero at the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies Conference at St. Norbert College.

Let us continue to explore the wisdom of our tradition as we seek to always move "from Gospel to life and life to Gospel" on our journey together.

We join the Church and Franciscan family in mourning of the passing of Friar Ferd Cheri, OFM, auxiliary Bishop of New Orleans.

Fr. Ferd was a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Sacred Heart Province and served as campus minister at Quincy University for many years.

He was known for his joyful spirit and for almost always including a Gospel song in his homilies. He was an inspiration for many. May he rest in the peace of Christ.
