John the Baptist said, "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30).
You see, though self-confidence dies, God-confidence comes to life! So, do not fret. You can admit that you have areas within that are dead and dark.
Romans 4:17 says, "God . . . gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist." God gives LIFE to the dead. Do you sometimes feel dead? Good. You're qualified to get God's life! Look to God. Trust Him as your Creator. Do not fear when you discover you are nothing. There is a time when becoming nothing is an improvement.

How valuable are Christ’s words? To each soul that chooses to abide in the words of Christ, He has promised, “I … will disclose
Myself to him” ( John 14:21). His promise is not reserved for a time later in Heaven, but in some deep measure He desires to
fulfill His words here, now.

"The LORD will go forth like a warrior, He will arouse His zeal like a man of war. He will utter a shout, yes, He will raise a war cry. He will prevail against His enemies" (Isaiah 42:13).

One may argue, "But I am just a sheep, not a fighter." Well, God's word says that the Lord will visit His flock "and will make them like His majestic horse in battle" (Zech. 10:3). Yes, we are sheep-like in our relationship with Him, but His goal is to train us to serve Him, even as "His majestic horse" in battle. In truth, you've often been victorious in the past. Now it's time to be win even greater victories in the future!

David was surrounded by enemies within and without. He cried out, “Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God! For thou has smitten all my enemies on the cheek; Thou hast shattered the teeth of the wicked” (vv. 7–8). God broke the jaws of David’s enemies. He shut their mouths. He stopped the lying, accusing, condemning voices that were a source of conflict for David. We, too, must cease listening to the voices of our enemies!
A sure way to see God shut the mouths of your adversaries is through praise and worship. When Jehoshaphat heard he was surrounded by a great multitude of foes, he was afraid. He cried out to the Lord in his distress and the Lord heard him. He was told, “do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s” (2 Chron. 20:15).

The bottom line is pray. If you’re tired, sick, emotionally overwhelmed—pray. If you’re on cloud nine and life seems perfect—pray. If you lack direction—pray. If you doubt that prayer makes any difference—pray. If the circumstances of your life are out of your control—pray. If the circumstances of your life seem well within you’re your control—pray even harder. Whatever you do—pray.
