He is risen!

What a beautiful Resurrection Sunday. The Sermon and Worship was powerful, and getting to witness a baptism was such a special reminder of the new life we have in Christ.

There’s just something about being together as a church family on Easter, singing, celebrating, and remembering the hope we have because of Jesus.

And of course, the Easter egg hunt brought so much joy for the kids!

Grateful for a day full of faith, joy, and love.

Tomorrow night we begin the Great Triduum, which is a sacred three-day journey through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil, where we remember Jesus’ final hours and celebrate His resurrection.

Rather than separate events, these days form one continuous act of worship, moving from the Lord’s Supper on Thursday evening to the joy of Easter.

Here’s how we’ll gather:
Thursday (Maundy Thursday) – 7:30 pm at Central Presbyterian Church

Friday (Good Friday) – 7:30 pm here, with Central Presbyterian joining us

Sunday (Easter) – 1:30 pm Resurrection celebration and our annual Easter Egg Hunt

These are some of the most meaningful days of our faith, and I hope you’ll join us as we walk this journey together.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Proud to be your pastor,

Jorge

Sometimes God reminds us that He truly is the God of wonders.

This past Sunday our church prayed for my mother in law, Isade Garcia, who was scheduled to have a cardioversion procedure to restore her heart rhythm. We prayed for her and anointed her with oil, placing her in the Lord’s hands.

On Tuesday, she was told the procedure was no longer necessary because her heart had already returned to a normal rhythm.

Job once said to the Lord, “I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me” (Job 42:3). Moments like this remind us that the power is not in our prayers themselves. The power is in the One who hears them.
And the One who hears our prayers is a wonderful God who still does wonderful things.

Looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday

Dear Church,

Tomorrow at 7:30 PM we begin our Lenten journey by joining Central Presbyterian Church for their Ash Wednesday Service.

Lent is built on three simple, powerful practices from Matthew 6:
When you give.
When you pray.
When you fast.

Not if. When.

Jesus assumes that His followers will live lives of generosity, prayer, and self denial. Not for show, but in secret. Not for applause, but for the Father.

Ashes remind us of repentance. When Daniel turned to God with prayer, fasting, and ashes, heaven responded. The angel told him, “You are greatly loved.”

That is my prayer for you this Lent. That as you seek Him, you would experience the nearness of God and remember that you are greatly loved.

If you give something up this season, use that space to draw closer to Jesus.

Proud to be your Pastor,

Jorge++

Dear Church,

I hope you are having a wonderful week! I wanted to share a beautiful thought from N T Wright on the Beatitudes that has been lifting my heart today. He writes, “They are a summons to live in the present in the way that will make sense in God’s promised future because that future has arrived in the present in Jesus of Nazareth. It may seem upside down but we are called to believe with great daring that it is in fact the right way up. Try it and see.”

I love that picture, living today as if God’s future has already begun to break in. That, I suspect, is exactly what Scripture means when it calls us to live by faith. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Faith doesn’t manufacture reality; instead, it confidently embraces the reality that God has already promised.

And here is the best part: it is not the strength of our faith that makes the difference, it is the strength of the One our faith is placed in. Jesus is the solid ground beneath every promise.

Nick Vujicic is a powerful example of this truth. Born without arms or legs he lives with a joy and boldness that can only come from someone who believes that God’s Kingdom is already at work in his life. He skydives, surfs, swims, and shares the hope of Jesus all over the world. I have attached a video so you can see for yourself.

Be encouraged, when God is involved there truly are no excuses. Reach into the future God has prepared for you and begin living it today. Let His joy, His hope, and His strength shape your present moment.

Before I forget, my Dad came home from the hospital yesterday, and is doing better. Thank you for your prayers on Sunday!

Proud to be your pastor,

I hope you are having a wonderful week. I wanted to briefly return to two images from our Scripture reading on Sunday: the bruised reed and the smoldering wick.

Matthew 12:20 reminds us of Jesus’ gentle heart toward His people. He does not break what is bruised or extinguish what is fading. He restores.

A bruised reed is damaged but still alive. A smoldering wick is weak but not finished. This is often where Jesus meets us, weary yet held by grace. God’s restoration usually begins quietly, like the small cloud Elijah saw before the rain came. Small signs of hope often point to greater things ahead.

If you feel tired but not broken, take heart. God is at work, restoring what is fragile and bringing renewal after drought.

Below is an image of a bruised reed and a smoldering wick. They share one important truth. Both are still alive.

It was truly a joy worshiping together this past Sunday. As I continued reflecting on the sermon, one beautiful connection stood out that I wanted to share.

Scripture is wonderfully woven together. In both the Old and New Testaments, we see Josephs whose fathers are named Jacob, who receive dreams, and who are called by God to go down to Egypt. When the Magi bring gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Mary and Joseph, God is already providing what Joseph will need for the journey ahead, because soon after, he is warned in a dream to flee to Egypt with Mary and Jesus. God had gone before them.

Jesus later reminds us of this same truth: “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:8). What a comfort. Before we face what lies ahead, God already knows and He faithfully provides.

If you’re feeling anxious or burdened today, spend time with Matthew 6:25–34. Be reminded that God sees you, knows your needs, and promises to care for you. 🙏

Happy New Year, Church! It was a great service today as we gathered for our first service of the new year. We are reminded that we serve a God of new beginnings. “Behold, I am making all things new” is not just a hope but a promise in Christ. From Advent’s call to repentance, to Christmas’s celebration of the Word made flesh, and now Epiphany’s call to make Christ visible in our lives, God invites us to begin again by His grace. Like the star that led the wise men, may our lives shine in dark places, lead others to Jesus, bow in worship, and go forward changed.
