TITHIING Part 1 (Malachi 3:8-10)

Malachi chapter 3, verses 8-10 are a widely used by pastors and ministers to extort money from the congregation. It is rightly quoted and wrongly applied in its context in the preaching of tithes. Recently we have seen the issues of tithing in the church being bastardized and abused. I made a casual comment on a posting by one of world-renowned pastor of an omega church saying that anyone who does not pay tithes would not go to heaven, quoting Malachi 3: 8- 10. Other preachers said that if one does not pay tithes. Things would be tight for that person. They quoted Malachi 3:8-10. In that my comment, I stated that the quotation of Malachi 3:8-10 was specifically for the priests and not for the whole house of Israel as a nation or congregation. Since my comment was made, I have received couple of calls saying that my comments were biblically out of order and out of context.
God’s Word is the same regardless of the dispensation or changes in time and seasons. We know that His Word to be the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Tithing was the law then. Jesus Christ is the Word and the Word is God. John chapter 1 verse 1
A lot of preachers are using this Malachi 3:8-10 in an abusive way to rob the people in the church. This is quoted and used out of context by many pastors and ministers of today.
Malachi 3:8-10, in this present time talks about the elders or leaders in the church (Priests) who are getting fat and rich from the people that are struggling to be obedient with their tithes. These leaders/Priests neglect the needs of the poor, the widows, the orphans and the hungry masses at large and focus on themselves alone. In other words they use these tithes to better themselves at the expense of the church members.
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse” Mal 3:10 (KJV). Not to the pockets of the leaders nor to their wallets and bank accounts, but to the storehouse that there may be food and help for the people in need. Tithes belong to God by virtue of covenant in place. To use them for personal gain is robbery of what rightly belong to God for the welfare of the poor, the widows, the orphans, the strangers, the fatherless, etc. The people were bringing in their tithes, but the leaders (Priests and Levites, leaders) were enriching themselves and neglecting the storehouse for the welfare of the people
Imagine some church leaders using tithes to buy two or more private jets and fleet of cars while the members are neglected, poor, suffering and struggling to be faithful. This is sad in the body of Christ. Again, imagine some church leaders building school and universities with members’ tithes, and the members whose contributions were used to build these schools could not afford to take their children to these schools. These leaders could not give these members’ children free tuition or at least, a substantial discount on tuition. Many of these members’ children end up not going to church universities because they could not afford the expensive tuitions. THIS IS SAD. Malachi 3:8-10 were written for such leaders and priests and pastors. Not for the congregation.
These leaders/priest/pastors neglect and abuse the purpose of tithes. The purposes which are not limited to feeding the hunger, meeting the needs of the poor/helping those in needs/sheltering the homeless and soul savings, etc. Instead, they use these funds to enrich themselves and not enriching the body of Christ.
As long as Malachi 3:8-10 is concern, it is addressing the priests, pastors, leaders in the church who collects the tithes and do not do what they suppose to do with it.
God was not happy with the priests in the time of Malachi and God is still not happy with church leaders of today abusing and misusing members’ tithes.
Malachi 3:8-10 is applicable in facts for these leaders in the church today as it was for the priests in the days of prophet Malachi. It was not for the people then and not for the worshipping Christian members now.
In our next Christian Weekly Herald, we will look into another quotation in Deuteronomy 26:12 giving by God through Prophet Moses.
God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge according to Hosea 4:6. It is shame that we carry our Bibles to church all the time and yet we do not read to understand His Words.
Let Us Pray
Our heavenly Father, we thank you for your Words that never change. We pray that we receive the spirit and knowledge to read and understand your Words as we read them and to apply them in our daily lives to be guided properly by your Holy Spirit in Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen.

REPENTANCE

Scripture: Matthew 4:17 (‘…Repent : for the kingdom of heaven is at hand ’)

As we have now entered into the month of December. Let us look back from January and repent from all our sins and unrighteousness. This week herald is on repentance.

Repentance comes from a Greek word metanoeo. It means to change one’s mind for the better. Not merely to forsake sin, but to change one’s attitude towards sin and the love of it. Its Hebrew word is nocham which means to regret.

Repentance is demanded by God as a condition of forgiveness and grace. It is the teaching that comes from our Lord Jesus Christ and His Apostles in the foundation of sound doctrine. It is one of the main themes of the bible. It is a doctrine that can never change. The Word of God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

God hates sin. The scripture is very clear about sin. Sin is willful rejection of God Words, commandments and instructions.

The consequence of sin is death. “The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20) KJV and after death comes judgment. We will be judged based on what we did and how we handle sins during our lives here on earth.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, after His resurrection from dead commanded that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name. “And that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in His name among all nations.… “(Luke 24:47) KJV. Repent now and hardened not your heart.
Be a part of that kingdom that Jesus Christ and the apostles preached. A kingdom headed by Jesus Christ for the purpose of re-establishing the kingdom of God over this rebellious part of God’s realm. We can only be part of the kingdom by changing our minds and attitudes from evil to good, believing and obeying the gospel and by repenting from sins.

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy on him…." (Isaiah 55:7) KJV.

God is always willing to forgive the sins of those who genuinely repent. Repentance must be with a pure heart or it is fruitless. “…this people draw near me with their mouth …but have removed their heart far from me…” (Isaiah 29:13) KJV.

Satan’s interest through antichrist working with pastors/ministers/church is to depopulate this kingdom by their false doctrines. These people teach that when one is saved, he or she is always saved and no need for repentance again. Some preach that God is merciful and will always forgive whether we repent or not. These are false doctrines and anti-Christ doctrines.
The wicked carries on without concern for any consequences. Everyone does what he or she wants to do unconcerned about anything until it is late. We are reminded every day through the scriptures that there are consequences for every evil act. We are not inclined to pay attention to repent. “But after hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God” (Romans 2:5) KJV. By being unrepentant, we are storing up wrath against ourselves for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Let us not forget that the whole city of Nineveh was about to be destroyed due to its sin, the city was spared after they repented at the preaching of Jonah. Behold, Jesus Christ, greater than Jonah is telling you now to repent from your sins to avoid the impending judgment of God that is coming. Sinfulness always deserves God’s wrath.
“…the Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9) KJV. Please repent now. God’s time of grace does come to an end. It might be today for you and for me.
God wants us to repent now before it is too late. Repentance goes hand in hand with confession of sins. Hereby we recognize the sins we have done against God and His Words. Therefore we say that we are sorry that we have disappointed God. Be careful, God is not deceived. “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of, but the sorrow of the word worketh death” (2 Corinthians 7:10) KJV.

PLEASE REPENT NOW, ASK FOR MERCY OF GOD AND EMBRACE THE GOSPEL!!!

Let Us Pray!!!
Heavenly Father, we do acknowledge that we have sinned against you and mankind. We humbly ask for your mercy as we repent from our sins. Lead and direct us in your ways to walk and learn to obey your Words in Jesus Christ‘s name we pray. Amen.

Shalom.

TOPIC: FALSE PROPHECIES (Part 2)

Scripture: Ezekiel 22:28. “And the prophets ……seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, thus saith the Lord God, when the LORD hath not spoken”.
Scripture: Romans 16:18 (For they serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple)

We Begin this second part (Part 2) of our topic on false prophecies with a true story. Please read the first part if you have not read it.

In our part 1 of this massage, we received a lot of positive and negative responses. Those negative responses were basically saying that we cannot condemn all prophecies and called every prophets/prophetess/ pastors fake. Let me categorically make it clear that as much as I believe in true prophet/prophetess/pastor prophecies, there are also a lot false and fake ones all around us . These articles focus on the false and fake prophecies. Just as the topic says.

This is a story of a young lady that we called ‘Mary’. Mary was a devout Christian woman solely dedicated in the church choir. She was a lead singer and loved by the church members.
After a while, the church had a new male member who became attracted to Mary and proposed to marry her. The newly love couple proceeded to make their intention known to the pastor and his wife who is a prophetess. They were eventually going for counseling with the pastor and his wife. After examining Mary and her proposed husband for a while, the prophetess (pastor’s wife) told Mary that the Lord told her that her proposed husband was not the will of God for her and that she should get out of the relationship sooner to save her life. Eventually, Mary abruptly cut off her relationship with the man because she believed in pastor’s wife (prophetess) prophecies concerning her relationship with the man she came to love. The relationship died with Mary and the man totally heartbroken.

After a while, the prophetess introduced the same man to her daughter and encouraged her daughter to consider marrying him because he has a bright future. They both became engaged in the church later.

Mary, a devout innocent church member and choir mistress became devastated and lost hope in the people she so much esteemed in her pathway of seeking God. She felt animosity and betrayed and left the church in bitterness. A true soul for God is lost as a result of false prophecies in the church. What a pity.

The story of Mary is one of many disasters false prophecies produce in the body of Christ.

Prophets /prophetesses and pastors and the so-called people of God have created a whole lot of problems in giving out fake and false prophecies.

False prophecies have divided and separated husband from his wife and caused divorcees. This contradicts the Laws of God in marriage,
Some children who have fallen prey to these false prophecies have cut off from their parents and family members. They were told that their problems came from parents or families and they become alienated from their own parents. This is in contrast to the Word of God in loving and caring for the parents

Another story was that of a young man we call John. John is a rich man who was in love with a lady called Martha. Martha is a churchwoman who believes much on prophecies. She was visiting some prophets/ prophetesses and pastors for prayers and direction regarding John’s proposal to marry her. She was told that her proposed mother in law was a witch and that the marriage would be a disaster as long as her proposed husband continues to be maintaining contact with his mother. As a result of these false prophecies, John cut off all communication with his mother until she died. John and Martha married and had a big problem in the marriage. These problems led them to seek solution from a true man of God (a prophet) who revealed that the problems in their marriage were the result of total negligence her husband John showed toward his innocent mother. John and Martha were shocked and travelled to see the mother to ask for forgiveness. Behold, it was too late for them to ask for forgiveness now to ratify the damages done as a result of false prophecies.

False prophecy have created enmity between brothers and sisters

A false prophets/prophetess is the one who receives a word by other means, such as divination, fortune-telling, or sorcery, word from their own minds or from other false gods,
A false prophet/prophetess is one who deviates from the truth in a deceptive way to fool the hearers of his/her message into thinking that God has sent him/her to deliver messages to them. They appear as God’s ministers in sheep clothing outwardly, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. They come in a deceptive manner and pretending to be what they are not.

Their corrupt prophecies are not from God and therefore cannot be followed.

Jesus Christ warned us to be aware that there are many false prophets/prophetesses who are out to deceive and mislead us concerning Godly matters in relation to our souls. These charlatans do not care about us. Rather their desire is to build their own wallets, purse and riches.
We are warned not to follow these false men and women of God. By our following them, we would be judged along with their evil. “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Romans 1:32) KJV. We are warned to stay away from these false prophets/prophetesses and pastors because they do not speak for God almighty.

God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge according to Hosea 4:6.
Let us examine ourselves today, if we found that we have been following these false prophets/prophetesses in their false prophecies, let us confess it unto God and seek God’s mercy through His Son Jesus Christ and read our Bibles to be guided by His Words. Amen

Let Us Pray
Our heavenly Father. Many people are being deceived by Satanic agents posing as prophets and prophetess and pastors saying what you have not said. Let us be guided properly by your Holy Spirit that we may walk and learn to discern the true prophecies from the fake one, In Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen

TOPIC: FALSE PROPHECIES

Ezekiel 22:28.

We have recently witnessed the prophecies given by some well known prophets/prophetesses and pastors concerning the United States 2024 presidential election results. Many of their prophecies failed woefully. Even all of their prophecies failed in the 2020 presidential election results also.
Similar prophecies from our pastors and ministers and many more have failed in our very own eyes. Yet we foolishly honor and call them men and women of God. Which God???. Does it mean that God is not all knowing God again? Does it mean that God is no longer omnificent?. Does it mean that God is limited in knowledge?. God forbid!!!!. God almighty is all knowing God. God almighty knows the end from the beginning. The truth is that these prophets/prophetesses and pastors and ministers are all liars and claiming to speak for God. They continue to deceive us.

A false prophets/prophetess is the one who receives a word by other means, such as divination, fortune-telling, or sorcery, word from their own minds or from other false gods, Their corrupt prophecies are not from God and therefore cannot be trusted. Let us not be fooled.

A false prophecy is one of the ways Satan uses to deceive the hearers of his message into thinking that God has said when God has not spoken. Some of these people we call prophets/ prophetesses and pastors end up prophesying lies to deceive the people who are genuinely seeking salvation. We should stay away from these kinds of people.

By their fruits, we shall know these fake men and women of God, Jesus warned us.

God almighty warned us and told us how to know these false prophets/prophetesses in Deuteronomy. “But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die …….When a prophets speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophets has spoken it presumptuously, thou shall not be afraid of him” (Deuteronomy 18:20 & 22). KJV.

Conclusion.
False prophets bring messages and prophecies that are not from God. They give false messages to contradict what God said. Their messages make us feel good even though it is full of lies. They enriched themselves by giving false hope, promises and false direction. . They pretend to speak for God just to get attention, power and respect from the people.
Satan has taken over many of these churches today. These churches have turned to business center where crowd and money become targets in false prophecies and visions. not salvation of souls.

Let us examine ourselves today, if we found that we have been following these false prophets/prophetesses in their false prophecies, let us confess it unto God and seek God’s mercy through His Son Jesus Christ and read our Bibles to be guided by His Words. Amen
