Mr. Spencer Leak Jr. story has really been on my heart tonight. Just a day before he passed away, he jokingly made a post saying, “Y’all done wore the funeral director out.” Then the very next day, he was gone.

I don’t know all of the details surrounding his passing, but seeing that post hit differently. It immediately took me back to the CNA who passed away at work and so many other stories we’ve seen lately.

As entrepreneurs, business owners, healthcare workers, employees, parents, and providers, we push ourselves every day. We have bills to pay, businesses to run, families depending on us, goals we’re trying to reach, and responsibilities that don’t stop. Because of that, we often put ourselves last.

The truth is, our bodies usually tell us when something isn’t right.

We know when we’re exhausted.
We know when we’re overwhelmed.
We know when something feels off.

But many times we keep pushing anyway.

We tell ourselves we’ll rest later.
We’ll go to the doctor later.
We’ll take a break after one more shift, one more order, one more project, one more goal.

Sometimes we wait until God forces us to sit down.

I remember another young lady who worked tirelessly building her brand. She made a post saying she was finally taking a break for a week or two. Tragically, she never made it back from that break.

That should make all of us stop and think.

Time is precious. Life is precious.

As a business owner myself, there are times when I get tired and have to step back. The work will still be there. The emails will still be there. The orders will still be there. But there is only one you.

Please listen to your body.
Go get that checkup.
Schedule that appointment.
Take that day off.
Get some rest.
Drink the water.
Take care of yourself.

Because when we’re gone, we’re not easily replaced in the hearts of the people who love us.

The world has lost too many people lately, and far too many of them were carrying heavy loads while silently pushing through.

Let’s do better about caring for ourselves before we reach our breaking point.

Praying for the Leak family and everyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. ❤️
