Renewed Devotion and Divine Reflection: Letting God Lead
During the month of July, I walked through the book of Colossians and discovered just how much it would help me reset. It called me to repentance and, most importantly, brought me back into a right relationship with God. This year has been challenging, filled with personal, health, and financial struggles, and I found myself drifting, giving in to anxiety and depression. But the Lord called me to fast and spend special time in consecration, and I am so grateful I was obedient to His call.
Let's talk about what I discovered:
1. I realized I was missing a specific kind of strength—"glory strength." According to Colossians 1:9-14 (TPT), glory strength is "strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy."
2. I needed supernatural peace. This year has felt like a constant state of turmoil, where I often felt lost and overwhelmed. Colossians teaches that being connected with God brings "supernatural peace." (Colossians 1:21-24 TPT)
3. I had neglected my relationship with God, which caused me to "forget" that I am complete in Him (Colossians 2:10 KJV). God is sufficient, and everything I need is found in Him. There's no need for external validation or acceptance because I am already accepted by God!
4. When I didn't prioritize my relationship with God, I began to give in to the desires of the flesh (Colossians 3:5-8). But once I committed to holiness, my mind was renewed. Now, I can live out Colossians 3:12-16.
5. I’ve renewed my devotion to prayer, worship, fasting, studying the Word, and consecration (Colossians 4:2-5), with the ultimate goal of winning souls for the kingdom of God.
Scripture in John 16 tells us that the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth (John 16:13 NASB). The truth He revealed to me was a reflection I didn’t like. No matter how long you've been saved, you may face a season like I did. The most important thing is to let the Holy Spirit take the lead and allow God to be God. When you do, you'll discover just how sufficient He truly is.
