Unity in the church is a gift of the Holy Spirit that we must guard. After reviewing Ephesians 4, Pastor Shawn outlines the five attitudes that protect unity (humility, gentleness, longsuffering, forbearance, and love) and the seven unshakable pillars of the faith: one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father.
Then the message turns to a question this church wrestled with in a recent survey: Can followers of other religions go to heaven? National studies from Pew and Lifeway show that many who identify as Christian now say yes. That idea is not new. Paul confronted a distorted gospel in Galatia within the church's first generation, and similar confusion still appears in evangelical circles today.
This sermon lays the foundation: general revelation in creation can show that God exists, but it cannot save. Only special revelation, God’s Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ, reveals how sinners are made right with God. Natural theology says that man can climb up to God. Christianity says that God came down to us.
Jesus’ own words leave little room for a “wider mercy” that bypasses Him: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
We encourage you to watch this message, open your Bible, and join us as we let Scripture, not polls or personalities, define the gospel.
