Here’s another one of our seamstresses…. I call her the Energizer Bunny. She has more energy than I think I have ever had.

“My name is Jerri Schiffmann, mother of two girls, grandmother of two grandsons. One lives in Georgia, one lives in Florida.
I am a transplant from Georgia and have been in Florida since 2014.
I am retired now and am 71 years young/old!

I started to learn to sew from my grandmother. Then when she passed, my mom showed me. I started the basics…,apron, dish towels.
In high school I took Home Economics and furthered my sewing expectations. Then I just went on my own, sewing what I wanted to sew whether for myself or family.
My oldest daughter told me about Cindy and told me what she was doing. I contacted Cindy in March and have been sewing for her since that time.
I love sewing for this non profit organization. I, and the other ladies sew from the love in our hearts and the love that others will receive from these gifts. It is fun but it makes my heart feel good to know that we are helping others in their time of need.”

We love having you as a part of us Jerri! Thank you for your hard work!~ Cindy

Get to know our seamstresses:
I'm going to start off with Jean Kendall, mom of our board member Mark Kendall. I'd never met Jean before January, but I feel like we've been lifelong friends. Here's a sweet note from Jean.

"Just a few words about what Sew Love means to me. I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona with loving parents and two sisters. My father was a carpenter - a hands on man who worked hard and made nice things for our home too. My mother kept our home and taught us at a young age to sew and cook. She also encouraged us musically - so I have played violin all my life. After college I worked as a nurse and met my husband Floyd at seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. After graduation he pastored churches in New Mexico and Colorado. Then we had the opportunity to serve in SE Asia as missionaries planting new churches. We moved to Bangkok, Thailand with our 4 year old son Mark and our son Jason was born there. We also served in Seoul, Korea. After 11 years we moved back to Colorado. All along the way my sewing machine was a helpful companion. Our boys graduated college, married and now have families and carreers of their own. Floyd and I retired 11 years ago and moved here to Melbourne. We loved playing in our church orchestra - Floyd played French horn. Five years ago Floyd passed away and life has been a new and different journey. But God has been faithful and given me opportunities to serve in my church and the community. Then covid came along and many outside groups were shut down. I was praying and seeking what to do. Then last January I learned about Sew Love from my son Mark who serves on the Board. I was over joyed. Cindy has been so gracious in letting me be a small part. I love sewing all the items that bring joy, a "hug" and encouragement to all who receive them."........we feel so blessed to have you with us Jean. ~ Cindy

"We have had great feedback from the officers on the Pillow Buddies. The kids love them, and some adults too! It is a great resource for them to help calm and comfort the children during a crisis situation. Truly you have helped so many kids!"

A really well written quote for Sew Love:

“When a child’s tears and fears are all-consuming, a Pillow Buddy can provide a diversion and a delight. Whatever creatures—dogs, cats, owls, even sloths—that emerge from the Sew Love workshop, they are created with love and convey love.”
