A lack of chastity has become almost universally accepted. I used to be in that camp. I had to take a few steps backward to see the bigger picture so I could make sense of why it is so important.

A Mormon Bishop in Taylorsville, Utah, went to great lengths last Sunday to teach his congregation a lesson. This image of the brother of Jared reminds me of Mosiah 4:27.

"And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order."

The brother of Jared did what he could, yet the stones produced no light. He thought the Lord would be angry with him because of his weakness. Yet, despite his fear, he beseeched the Lord to do what he could not. The brother of Jared was diligent. He ran as fast as he could. The Lord took him the rest of the way.

I need to think of this often because I know of my many weaknesses, and I always worry that I am not worthy enough, that I'm not doing enough. Remembering that all I need to do is put forth my best effort, and beseech the Lord to take help me is a great comfort.

I truly know Lord never gives me more than I can do, because he will take up the slack. I just have to put in the work, and ask for his help.
