What are we doing when the cameras aren't rolling, so to speak? Are we still going out to help our neighbor when things are difficult? Trust me, this is not a post meaning to condemn anyone. I'm just asking a legitimate question. Will we do the same exact thing that would bring recognition to us, as if we were never going to receive recognition?
Sometimes the things that we do for others, costs us something. We grow up in a society with the slogan that "Time is Money", and while it is true, it isn't always the focus; or, at least it shouldn't be. I'm certainly not saying that there isn't anything that we should be paid for. Of course there is. I had someone make a comment to me the other day when I was asked to do something that someone else gets paid to do. Mind you, I already fixed this something once before out in the rain. They made the remark about that I should just "do it unto the Lord". I feel about that like I do when someone who's treating you wrong, but they want to add in the part about you should be more understanding because your a Christian.
I don't really know where all of that came from, but there you go. You'll just have to forgive me. There are people nearly everywhere you look, who are hurting and just need to know they are loved and they matter. Depression is real. Spiritual attacks are real. That even goes for those who may not even believe in God, Jesus, or Holy Spirit. Just because you don't believe in Satan and Hell, doesn't mean that he doesn't believe in you.
This post is probably all over the place, but my point is this: please check on others. Take a minute or 10 to see how others are doing. Talk to people that are put in your path each day. Let them know they matter to you. As Christians, we are called to love our neighbor. I can say that more times than not, when I have set out to be a blessing to others, I have generally been the one blessed in return. Like I said, check on others and see if they need help. You will be amazed how much just that little act of kindness can make a world of difference in their life.
