Our family left a bunch of at our local school since this is the first week teachers go back into their classrooms to do COVID-Cautious prep work and in-service. As we chalked, we prayed for them and for all the Viking families.💟⚓️

So many of us have been treating our fellow humans with disrespect or disdain because we disagree. My personal prayer was that God clean up my heart. Like Quarantine-time Tide + Bleach Water it. Find all the little seeds of bitterness lurking within and pluck them out. Powerwash it good, God. Replace them with love and your patience and your wisdom and grace and kindness and lots of forgiveness.

Bitterness is often said to grieve the Spirit of God. It’s like a slow poison or a deadly virus that starts in the heart, gives room for the enemy to work and causes us to fall short of God's grace and His will for our lives. I know another virus that is doing this work too. I don’t want to double up; things are hard enough as it is. I’ll wash my hands if you will help me clean my heart. I’ll wear my mask if you will help me watch my mouth. Help me to trust you too, Lord, to believe the best of people and forgive all the rest! Remind me continually that we are all doing the best we can and that it’s YOU who can right the wrongs, straighten the crooked paths, and pluck out all seeds of bitterness that try to take root. 🌱

We write these verses and draw these pretty pictures on the sidewalks not just to encourage people or spark a smile, but also because it’s the best way our family knows to successfully fight real battles. We believe Ephesians 6:17 is true in that the word of God is the sword of the Spirit, an offensive weapon against enemies. So often the Bible and it’s message is used as a weapon against those who are made in His image. God’s word is not meant to be a weapon against the people He made! The enemy is Satan, not our fellow humans. The wicked efforts made by the evil one to distract, divide, destroy and cause doubt in believers are the attacks of a spiritual war. Like, a real battle is happening. Always has and still is. So because Hebrews 4:12 says “the word of God is alive and active and sharper than any double-edged sword” our family armors up and goes on the attack with simple chalk messages on sidewalks that we believe actually acts as a force field or a barrier to ward off evil. If it also helps to remind people how much they are loved by God, then that’s just an added bonus.⚔️📖

Yesterday was the first day Allen Independent School District teachers went back into their classrooms for COVID-Cautious prep work and in-service. Our family took a walk over to the school and left a whole bunch of as we prayed for them and for all the Viking families.💟⚓️

“May the Lord guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:11.

Amen amen. 🙏🏻

We write these verses and draw these pretty pictures on the sidewalks not just to encourage teachers and school staff or make them smile as they walk into work, but also because it’s the best way our family knows to successfully fight real battles. We believe Ephesians 6:17 is true in that the word of God is the sword of the Spirit, an offensive weapon against enemies. So often the Bible and it’s message is used as a weapon against people or programs or politics but it’s not meant to be a weapon against those who are made in His image. God’s word is not meant to be a weapon against the people He made! The enemy is Satan, not our fellow humans. The wicked efforts made by the evil one to distract and divide and destroy and cause doubt in believers are the attacks of a spiritual war. Like, a real battle is happening. Always has and still is. So because Hebrews 4:12 says “the word of God is alive and active and sharper than any double-edged sword” our family armors up and goes on the attack with simple chalk messages on sidewalks that we believe actually acts as a force field or a barrier to fend off evil. If it also helps our local teachers know how much they are loved and appreciated and that they are continually prayed for and powered up and protected in His name, then that’s just an added bonus.⚔️📖

So many teachers are starting this school year with an empty cup. All poured out. Already used up and drained. Our prayer is for you to be refreshed and renewed by God as He works in you and through you this school year. May He be the one to refresh you when you are dry. 💟⚓️

Today is the first day Allen Independent School District teachers go back into their classrooms for COVID-Cautious prep work and in-service. Our family took a walk over to the school and left a bunch of as we prayed for them.

God has equipped teachers with special gifts and talents that honor Him and can be used to serve others. Esther 4:14 says, “perhaps you were born for such a time as this.” Perhaps these teachers were born for exactly this! To lead well. To faithfully and fearlessly serve others. No, none of us would ever require or demand they sacrifice so so much, but perhaps - just maybe - God knew these selfless, highly trained professionals would be so needed at this time. And perhaps, just maybe, He has been equipping them through various trials and has already empowered them to be successful through this next year and it is our role, as parents and a prayerful people, to encourage them in all they do and who they are? ⚔️📖🙏🏻

Quit thinking about what used to be, my child; that was then. This is now; I’m doing something new! That thing that sprouted up recently? That new thing? That’s me! Don’t miss it! Join me! I’m already at work in your life in new ways right now! I’m currently making a way out and I want you to get unstuck. I want you to be free. I want you to be refreshed by how much I love you and provide for you and care for you. Don’t you see? Trust me!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18

We had planned to write a different verse and draw a different image here. That large blue rain drop to the left of the G in God was supposed to be the letter A and there was going to be a flowery vine illustrating the verse “abide in me”.

This is not the first time a new verse and different image has come to mind mid-motion. My hope is that the weary walker knows how much God loves them. This was meant just for YOU.❤️

Is your soul parched too? Thirsty for something more, something else, something new? We prayed for other neighbors and all who might see this photo on social media too. We prayed for our own family and our own weary hearts. That God would rain down His love and grace and soak the whole world in His Holy Spirit so that all our weary souls would be refreshed by Him and in Him. 🙏🏻🌦☔️

“You gave abundant showers O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.” Psalm 68:9

Pleasantly surprised to find our usual spots on the trail were already decorated! Hallelujah, He is risen indeed! We see so many pretty chalk drawings all over the area now, but we are especially thankful for those of you who are bold in your faith and sincere in your love for others. Thank you for writing bible verses and praying for your neighbors. Times like these are when people need it most. 💜🌈✝️✨

‘Normal’ is soon to be re-defined for each one of us. God please lead us. We know Your way is the best way and that you are the opposite of “normal”. Help us walk forward with you without fear of the future.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
