Ancient Apostolic Church of Alexandria

Ancient Apostolic Church of Alexandria The vision of the Ancient Apostolic Church of Alexandria is to honor past while embracing the present.

We seek to respectfully engage creedal theology while dialoging deeply the esoteric and mystical themes that have been always present in the church...

"If our protest is not rooted deeply in prayer and grounded in the sacramental life of the Church, it risks becoming just another form of noise in an already angry and fractured world."

There is a temptation in moments of social upheaval to believe that activism alone will save us. We organize, march, post statements online, attend rallies, and raise our voices against injustice. All these things matter. Silence in the face of oppression is never faithful discipleship. But if our p...

Today, we join with many across the broader spiritual and ecclesial community in mourning the passing of Stephan A. Hoeller, who departed this life on May 3rd.

We, the bishops of the Ancient Apostolic Church of Alexandria, offer our heartfelt condolences to the clergy and faithful of Ecclesia Gnostica, as well as to all who were touched by Bishop Hoeller’s life and work. His voice was one of wisdom, depth, and gentle illumination—bridging ancient insight with the spiritual longings of the modern world.

Bishop Hoeller’s contributions to the study and living expression of Gnosticism helped preserve a sacred stream of thought that has inspired seekers for generations. His legacy stands not only in his writings and teachings, but in the countless lives awakened to deeper reflection, mystery, and truth.

We commend his soul to the mercy and light of the Divine, trusting that the One who is the Source of all Wisdom receives him in peace.

May those who mourn be comforted, and may his memory be a blessing and a continued light along the path of all who seek.
In faith, hope, and charity,

Exciting new work beginning

Over the past several months, we have been in conversation and prayer, and we are launching the Community of St. Botolph. Our first gathering will be on Sunday, April 19th at 5:30 p.m., and we will meet at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street in Hingham. I am especially grateful to Fred Slinger for his generosity in opening this beautiful and sacred space to us.

So, what is the Community of St. Botolph?

We are a threshold community, rooted in the ancient faith of Christ.

We are a wayhouse for pilgrims, seekers, and the spiritually displaced. No matter where you are on life’s journey, you will find a home with us.

We are a place where contemplation and sacrament sustain a faithful life in a changing world. Our worship will be grounded in the rich traditions of the Christian Church, while engaging thoughtfully with the questions and realities of our modern age.

We take our name from St. Botolph of Thorney, a 7th-century monk, abbot, and founder who established a community of prayer and learning on the margins—at the threshold between land and sea, wilderness and settlement. Botolph’s communities became places of hospitality, learning, healing, and refuge for travelers and seekers. Over time, his name came to be associated with crossings, journeys, and safe passage.

And so, in that same spirit, we invite you to come and join us on the journey.

"We stand at the beginning of a holy journey. The cross is coming. The tomb is near. But here, in Bethany, we are given this moment, a glimpse of what love looks like in the presence of Jesus. Costly. Vulnerable. Beautiful."

Holy Monday invites us into a quiet, intimate space, before the crowds swell, before the cries of “Crucify,” before the long shadow of the cross fully settles in. We find ourselves in a home in Bethany, gathered around a table with Jesus Christ, Lazarus of Bethany, Martha of Bethany, and Mary of...

Blessed Samhain

May the turning of the year bring you strength and joy.

Call upon the past and celebrate as the veil thins between the worlds.

Honor yourself, Mother Earth, and all your relatives.

A Prayer for Peace

Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Today (June 22nd) is the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost.

O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving-kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
