This past Friday evening the congregation celebrated Sukkot (meaning Booths). The holiday serves a dual purpose: an agricultural festival thanking God for the harvest, and a historical reminder of the fragile dwellings the Israelites used during 40 years of desert travel after leaving Egypt. This year due to the impending storm our Sukkah was built inside the social hall. Following a joyful musical services led by Cantor Harriet Dunkerley our spiritual leader and Cantor Shira Nafshi everyone had an opportunity to shake the Lulav in six directions while holding the Esrog. Pizza in the hut (social hall was served).
