Celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday (the Sunday after Easter) by attending Mass, going to Confession (ideally within 20 days before or on the day), receiving Holy Communion, and venerating the Divine Mercy Image with the trustful prayer, “Jesus, I trust in You!”. It is a day to receive total forgiveness of sins and punishment, and to extend mercy to others through prayer and action.
•Key Ways to Celebrate•
Go to Confession: Prepare your soul by repenting of all sins, preferably receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the feast.
Receive Holy Communion: Attend Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday or the Vigil and receive the Eucharist in a state of grace.
Venerate the Divine Mercy Image: Venerate the image of Jesus, which features red and white rays emanating from His heart, by displaying it in your home, bowing to it, or praying before it.
Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy: Recite the Chaplet, often done at 3:00 PM (the “Hour of Great Mercy”).
Perform Acts of Mercy: Show mercy through your actions, words, and prayers for others, embodying the message of the day.
Obtain the Plenary Indulgence: A plenary indulgence is available for fulfilling the conditions (Confession, Communion, praying for the Pope’s intentions, and detachment from sin).
At Home Preparation: Set up a prayer space with the Divine Mercy image, a crucifix, and a candle. Listen to special devotion songs and meditate on Saint Faustina’s Diary.
