Knights of Columbus Carson,Council 7116 We are Catholic men who lead, serve, protect, and defend. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners.

We share a desire to be better husbands, fathers, son, neighbors, and role models, and to put charity and community first. Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.

Knights of Columbus Fr. Callahan Council 7116
of St. Philomena Church Receives Top Award!

Carson, CA - Knights of Columbus Fr. Callahan Council 7116 of St. Philomena Church in Carson, CA was awarded the distinction of Star Council, the international organization’s top honor for local councils, for Columban Year 2025-2026.

The Star Council Award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of growing membership, promoting Knights of Columbus insurance benefits, sponsoring Catholic faith formation programs and volunteering time through service-oriented activities.

“It was truly an honor and a blessing to be able to serve our St. Philomena Church, School, and Parish Community in a variety of ways this past Columban Year,” quoted Past Grand Knight Fred Docdocil. “Among other events and activities, Council 7116 actively served our community by providing coffee/donuts & other refreshments during our monthly membership drives, ran the monthly Viejas Casino Fun Bus Trip and the bi-weekly 2nd& 4th Friday Bingo Challenge, led the Holy Thursday procession of the Blessed Sacrament, trimmed the trees around the Church parking lot, and also involved the school with the Soccer Challenge, the Free Throw Challenge, and the Essay Writing & Poster Making Contests,” added PGK Fred.
