How incredibly odd! Just before midnight last night I posted a message here wishing all a Merry Christmas. Of course it with further than that as I told a story fit for the moment. I have no idea where that message went! Maybe China virus? The devil?
At any rate I wish you the joy of Christmas each day from now until we meet again next year.
I will be looking for you in the Lords house Sunday as we celebrate His birth and His return as we observe the Lords Supper. Merry Christmas.

Happy Easter Eve to all!

A little over 2000 years ago the people who knew Jesus and loved Him were in deep despair on this night before He rose from the grave. Little did they expect to be players in the world's greatest event of all time! Thank God we do not have to be in a hopeless state of despair tonight. We know Jesus did not stay in the tomb!

Just hours from now we will meet to celebrate and worship the risen Christ. He is alive! I hope you will join us. This resurrection day is the perfect time to break out of your covid prison and reestablish gathering with your faith family for worship. We will observe Communion in tomorrow's service for the first time in over a year! Due to certain requirements and rearrangements which must be made, the worship service will not stream over Facebook tomorrow.
You may wear your mask and socially distance if you find that necessary. Every believer who is physically able should be in the Lord's House on this most important day of the year if you know Him and love Him.
See ya there,

Pastor Berry

Most of you are aware that the China virus is on the rampage again in our State. The State Department of Health and the Governor have issued new guidelines for preventing becoming infected by the virus. In addition, Panola County is among several in the state with a large number of new infections.

Consideration was given to cancelling worship services for the next couple of weeks but we are not making that call at this point. Several local churches have cancelled and several are going ahead with in-person services. We are going forward with scheduled services at 10:00 for Sunday School and 11:00 for worship.

It is very important that we recognize the increased possibility of contacting this virus. You are urged to mask up and maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet. If you are older and have co-morbidities, you are encouraged to stay home. (I hate saying that) Some of us (myself included) with existing health issues should be extra cautious as this virus seems to be devastating to many in this category. It is alarming to realize, according to MDH that most infections are caught from people who do not know they are infectious.

If you join us for worship tomorrow, please be careful, for yourself and for others who come. Keep praying that God would deliver us from this evil virus and protect us as we do our best to prevent its spread.

Good morning! The WiFi at the church is not working, so we will not be able to stream the service live today. We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope you will join us next Sunday.

Pope Baptist Family:

Tomorrow our waiting comes to an end and I am looking forward to it!

Here are a few items we can be mindful of as we move forward toward a full schedule. Hopefully, this will also answer some of our questions.

1. We will meet for worship only this Sunday at 10:00. ( No Sunday school, choirs, Children’s Chapel). Not other activities are scheduled for the rest of the week.

2. The Nursery will be available for babies and “crawlers” this Sunday. Parents will be requested to drop off their child at the nursery door where nursery workers will receive them. The Nursery has been wiped down(sanitized) on all surfaces. If you do not feel comfortable putting your child in the nursery because of the Covid-19 matter, that is understandable.

3. Please remember the 6’ guidelines; keeping at least 6’ between yourself and others (except your immediate family of course)

4. We are encouraged to wear a face mask. This is done primarily in consideration of others as opposed to whether we “think” it does any good in preventing the spread of “bugs”.

5. Try to do most of our fellowship outside in the open areas rather than gathering in groups in the sanctuary.

6. The offering plates will be located at the front and rear exits of the sanctuary. Please place your tithes and offerings in them.

7. The above are offered as recommendations rather than rules. Please be encouraged to follow them for the peace of mind and safety of fellow members.

Note:

Some will consider the above recommendations as being extreme and unnecessary. Others will consider them to be too lax and unserious to protect the worship attendee. Some see the Covid-19 as a complete hoax perpetrated upon us by the government. Some see the Covid-19 virus as a highly contagious, deadly virus that escaped from a Chinese lab. There will be folks in our gathering tomorrow who believe strongly in one of these positions.

We are making a reasonable attempt to do what is right for either person. I've seen all the theories of this disease and I know what I believe personally. My responsibility before God for this flock of His people is to protect the weakest and to encourage all to come with a focus on worshiping Him without unnecessary distractions. My prayer is that this would accomplish that.

If you are sick or have preexisting conditions, please feel free to delay your attendance. You know your situation better than anyone and we all want to get back to normal asap.

The message will begin LIVE on Facebook at about 10:15 am.

Excited!
Bro. G
