No one is unworthy of God's love. To those who may feel that way, talk to someone who will listen and help you process that hurt. God understands the human heart. He understands the pain and the suffering. He has the power to transform that suffering into something glorious. Let us continue to keep trusting in our all-powerful and all-loving God.

Almost half of US adults know someone who has died by su***de. Many of us may struggle with even approaching this topic, much less feeling confident in accompanying someone who has experienced this type of loss. Join us this Thursday in Lancaster for an open discussion on how to accompany those who have lost a loved one to su***de. Bring your questions and concerns and leave feeling more equipped.

Happy Birthday Mother Mary!

Today, September 8, is the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, nine months after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception!

Though Scripture tells us nothing of Mary's childhood, other sources and traditions tell us that Mary's parents, Joachim and Anne, were an elderly barren couple who feared that their childlessness was a sign of God's displeasure. But one day, an angel visited Anne and revealed to her that all generations would honor their future child, as Mary herself prophesied in her great Magnificat. Joachim and Anne conceived in their old age and dedicated their daughter, Mary, to God. Her birth was the morning star that heralded the dawning of a new and glorious day in her Son, Jesus Christ.

Be sure to do something to celebrate Mary's birthday today! Pray a Rosary, go to Mass, bake a cake or some other celebratory dessert, visit a church and light a candle at its statue of Mary, or sing a hymn to Mary after your family's bedtime prayers tonight. Happy birthday to our Queen and Mother!

In September, as part of Su***de Prevention Month, we are featuring three voices, each offering a different experience of having lost someone to su***de, such as the loss of a daughter, the loss of a spouse, and the experience of a priest who accompanies people who are mourning.

St. Augustine reminds us that there is something within every human heart that longs for more. This longing is meant to draw us to God. All else will fail to satisfy us. May we no longer endlessly search for what only God can provide. Jesus, we surrender ourselves to You. We trust You. We have faith that when we give all to You, we will find fulfillment.
