What a great "fortune" I received in the cookie in my to-go meal recently! I'm sharing it, so it will basically be a fortune for all of us!
Stay kind my friends!

MADISON KINDNESS WEEK AND CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL ARE BACK!
Madison Kindness Week will be back for a third year, from February 4th through the 14th, and will again highlight the activities that make Madison one of the kindest communities in the state! Kindness Week 2026 will also feature the immensely popular and quite delicious Madison Chocolate Festival on Saturday, February 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Madison Chocolate Festival will be held at the First Congregational Church at 26 Meetinghouse Lane (on the Green) and will again include: a café serving a delicious lunch and delectable chocolate desserts; a bake sale; cookie walk; silent auction; gift basket raffle; a kindness open-mic; music and more.
“Sometimes the world doesn’t seem like a very kind place,” said Kindness Committee Member Carol Robbins. “But there is a lot of kindness going on in every community that most people don’t notice. The Kindness Committee is determined to put a spotlight on those many efforts so people can see them. And what better way to celebrate kindness and the community than with The Chocolate Festival!”
Also back this year is the Haikus from the Heart contest. Anyone – any age – can submit a Kindness Haiku ayt a drop-box at the Scranton Library. Winners will be chosen by Madison Poet Laureate Ed Lent and will be announced at the Chocolate Festival.
Madison Kindness Week kicks off on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Scranton Library Lifelong Learning Room with a workshop on Kindness and Compassion in Relationships. The workshop, led by Drs. Mira Svatovic and Keri Marcovici, will provide actionable skills that will increase your ability to connect with yourself and others. Pre-Registration is required for the Workshop and can be done on the Scranton site.
As was done with the last Chocolate Festival, all proceeds will go to the First Congregational Church Community Breakfast, which is served every Saturday morning, free of charge, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. All are welcome to join the FCC team for breakfast. The Madison breakfast is served in conjunction with the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries, an interfaith service which provides five community pantry locations and nine community meal sites.

Kindness pays.
It’s one of those simple truths that ripple far beyond what we can see. Every small act of kindness—whether it’s a smile, a word of encouragement, or a helping hand—plants a seed in someone’s heart. You may not always witness the moment it blooms, but it has a way of finding fertile ground, growing quietly until it bears fruit in unexpected ways. 🌿

When we choose to sow kindness, we set off a beautiful chain reaction. One act inspires another, spreading warmth and compassion through hearts and places we may never even reach. The world has enough noise, haste, and indifference; what it needs are more people willing to pause and be kind. So, keep sowing kindness—freely, sincerely, and consistently. In time, it always finds its way back, multiplied and deeply rooted in the hearts it has touched. 🌸✨

Kindness doesn’t cost a thing, yet it has the power to change everything.

Whether it’s offering a smile, sharing a meal, or simply giving a little love to someone who needs it - human or animal - those small acts can mean the world.

This picture is a gentle reminder that compassion doesn’t need a reason. It just needs a heart willing to care. ❤️🐾
