16 kids from St. Margaret’s SMYLE group participated in this year’s “Mission Impossible”. When their annual mission trip to Brooklyn, NY was cancelled due to COVID, the group knew they still wanted to do something. For 2 straight days, they worked outside in 102 degree weather painting donated furniture to Columbus House, collecting and sorting 42 bags of clothing and linens for Goodwill and they created 40 baskets filled with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and cleaning essentials for single mothers and their young children to use as they move from shelters to apartments. They also created legacy building kits for the nurses in the NICU at Yale to give to families when a newborn infant dies, as well as sympathy cards of support that these families will receive in the years following their loss.
These teens really outdid themselves in giving back to their community! We are so proud of them all!
Many thanks to Jennifer Papa, Carolyn Mader and Lisa Engelhart who worked tirelessly to make this year’s mission trip happen! We are also grateful to Chris Wilson, Kerry McKeown, Susan Bader and Amy Laffargue for supervising and helping during the 2 days. The teens that participated are Katie Sanford, Pamela, Chris & Michael Engelhart, Sean McSweeney, Adam Laffargue, Callie Richards, Meryl Sullivan, Olivia Papa, Henry & Willi Wilson, Ava & Bella Lombardi, Claire Bader, Luke Johnson, and Kylie Ameika. Great job, everyone!
