Women Beyond Faith is a non-judgmental group that allows a space where women who have left faith are afforded a voice. Here we do our damnedest to respect, love, encourage and motivate one another.
This page is a space to express the frustrations, anger and loneliness you’re likely to encounter over the course of your deconversion.
Many of us grew up in or strayed into religious settings and became accustomed to the misogyny, patriarchy, suppression and injustice.
No longer.
We’re agitated. We’re awake. We are deconverting or deconverted. We have a wide range of interests, backgrounds and experiences. We are contrasted in our race, s*xual orientation, shape, size, former religious traditions, political leanings, professional and personal credentials. We are feminist, humanist, secular, agnostic and/or atheist women. We are woman. We’re finding our voices and gathering strength. We’re sharpening our roars!!
Women Beyond Faith Podcast –
For women who have walked away from the faith, the challenges can be paralyzing. Trying to find a sense of identity is tough once you've realized you've been indoctrinated by patriarchal religion.
After years of submitting to men, obeying scripture and following rules, women who leave religion need to know that there are others who will listen to our stories – we need to recognize that our voices absolutely matter.
Each narrative we contribute has the potential to impact society-- one account at a time.
We are Women Beyond Faith -- speaking up, sharing stories, appropriating our voices, rediscovering -- or finding for the first time -- our agency .
BACKGROUND: Wendy Marsman originally started the Women Beyond Belief Podcast back in April 2017. After 50 episodes, in early 2018, she decided to rebrand under a new name but continue with the same type of interviews with women who had left religion. Wendy decided in March 2018 ,due to her frustration with the misogynist atheist movement, that it was necessary for her to discontinue involvement with this group.
