To the women of God who have answered a call into ministry. With regard to the dismissal of your full place in the body of Christ by our brothers in the SBC.
We are broken hearted for the harm that continues to be done to our sisters in Christ.
But we see you.
We see where you are in Scripture. We see you in the prophetess Miriam. We see you in Rebekah. In Deborah. In Jael. In Esther. In Ruth. In Bathsheba. Tamar. Mary. Mary Magdalene. Martha and Mary. Phoebe. Priscilla. Junia.
So many other places where women have answered the call to lead, preach, teach, declare the gospel, take up space in the church, delivered God's word, thrown down tyrants, led armies into battle, received the very message of God for God's people. Women of courage, character, who were backed into corners by men who dismissed their divine image, and still remained faithful to the God who created, loved, and called them by name.
God has gifted and equipped you for your unique work on this earth.
We read from 1 Corinthians 12 this past Sunday:
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
God has blessed this world with a diversity of people and those people are equally called to the work of the kingdom.
