Do you recognize this intersection? 🧐🧐

If you have ever entered Calvary Cemtery through the main gate, it may look familiar. This is the corner of Newburg Road and Shady Lane in 1953. If you were to turn left at the intersection, you would enter Calvary.

It is always interesting to see old photos of our surroundings and see how much has changed over the years.

Tomorrow is the last Wednesday of the month, which means it is time for the May Infant Prayer Service. The service will be held in Section 20 of Calvary Cemetery at 1:30 PM. If needed, the event will be moved to one of the chapels located in the office building in the event of rain.

The names of all of the infants buried during the month in any of the Archdiocesan Catholic cemeteries will be mentioned during the service. Any other name, whether the infant was buried in a prior month or in another cemetery, can also be mentioned at the request of the families or friends.

Please call our office if you would like to add an infant’s name to be prayed for.

Today we wanted to feature Saint Louis Cemetery. Located off of Barret Avenue, this elegant 43-acre cemetery opened in 1867. It is surrounded by over a mile of limestone wall. Over 47,000 people have been laid to rest here.

Although limited, both casket and cremation graves are still available for purchase in this historic cemetery.
