Please be in prayer for Faye Young as well as the rest of the Young family in the days and weeks to come.

David Edward Young, 65, of Jackson, Kentucky, entered eternal rest Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at his home. Born on September 12, 1960 in Dayton, Ohio, David lived a life marked by service, dedication and love for his family and community.

David was a retired correctional officer from the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex (EKCC), where he also served as a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team. His dedication to public safety extended beyond corrections; David began his firefighting career as a volunteer with the Jackson Fire Department before being hired as a firefighter with the Lexington Fire Department. He later became the first chief of the Quicksand Fire Department when it was founded, leaving an enduring legacy in his community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, David worked for Star Fire Coal Co. operating a dragline and was known for his strong work ethic and skill in every role he undertook. Beyond his career, David found joy in flying and picture framing and took great pride in working on special projects for his daughter, Kasey.

David was also a US Navy veteran.

David was a man of faith who worshipped at Hampton United Methodist Church in Wolverine. His faith and values were evident in the way he lived his life—always putting others first and making meaningful contributions to those around him.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Terri Anderson Young; their beloved daughter, Kasey Young (Jordan); his mother, Alice Faye Young; his mother-in-law, Joyce Anderson; his brother, Darryl Young (Lisa) and their daughter, Tabitha; sisters-in-law Jennifer Carnes (Mickey) and Tami Watts (Jon); nieces and nephews, Sam Dillander, Cody Schroader (Krystal) and their children, Alenna and Colton; special aunt, Dorothy Campbell & cousins; and bonus daughters, Sandi Beth Haddix, Angelina Brewer, Shey Trent and Nicole Watkins. He was predeceased by his father, Mervin Eugene Young; his father & mother-in-law, Billy & Jean Sadler and father-in-law, Thomas Anderson.

Visitation for David is scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with his funeral service to be held Monday, February 23, 2026 beginning at 11:00 AM with John Bunn officiating.

Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery with Jeff Hamilton, Jamie Watkins, Chris Bunn, Jordan Miller, Sam Dillander, Darryl Young, Matt Hudson and Tyler Smith serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tony Dunn, Jonathan Watts and Mickey Carnes.

David’s life was one of service—to his country, to his community, and most importantly to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May it bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
