The rich tapestry of Los Angeles began with a single thread: on September 4, 1781, the little band of settlers founded their new town - El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles - with a Mass and procession in honor of Our Lady of the Angels, to whom they dedicated the infant town. From time to time since then, Angelenos have sought the aid and protection of the Mother of God for what has become

one of the greatest --- and yet, most challenged --- cities on the planet. In the face of the economic, social, and spiritual threats faced today not only by Los Angeles by the State, Nation, and World, the members of the Foundation of Our Lady of the Angels seek to gather all --- Catholic and non-Catholic alike --- who wish once more to entreat the aid and blessing of Our Lady of the Angels upon our Archdiocese, City and County. We look forward to doing this in three ways:

1 Sponsoring an annual Mass preceded by a Procession in honor of Our Lady of the Angels at a prominent church in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, followed by a Feast to celebrate the birthday of our Archdiocese and City in her name;

2 Maintenance of a website
(www.thequeenofangels.com) dedicated to educating Catholics and non-Catholics alike about Church teaching on devotion to Our Lady and the Angels, the Kingship of Christ,
and related matters; and

3 Personal devotion of the members of the Foundation and the participants in the Mass, Procession and Feast to Our Lady of the Angels, who through their prayers and good works will seek to engender reverence for the Blessed Virgin, bring the community together, and invoke the blessings of God upon the religious and civic leaders of our multicultural community and all of the inhabitants of the greater Los Angeles area, Catholic and non-Catholic alike.
