Yesterday, members of our community joined friends and interfaith partners at Islamic Center of Southern California to stand in solidarity with our Muslim neighbors following the tragic shooting in San Diego.

We wish we did not have to gather under these circumstances. Yet time and again, in the face of hatred and violence, we witness something extraordinary: communities responding not with hatred, but with faith, compassion, and care for one another.

Our Muslim friends, colleagues, and partners are an essential part of the fabric of our interfaith community. They are people we learn from, laugh with, work alongside, and cherish. Their friendship makes us better.

As we continue to grieve with those affected by this tragedy, we reaffirm our commitment to standing against Islamophobia and all forms of hate. We will continue showing up for one another, not only in moments of crisis, but in the daily work of building understanding, belonging, and peace.

This violence must end. Until it does, we will continue to stand together. 💙

Today we honor the Ascension of Bahá’u’lláh, commemorating the passing of the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá’í Faith.

Observed annually around the world on May 29 at exactly 3:00 a.m. — the precise time of His passing — this sacred holy day invites reflection on unity, peace, justice, and the spiritual interconnectedness of humanity.

For Bahá’ís, it is one of nine holy days during which work is suspended, offering space for prayer, remembrance, and contemplation.

Behind every gathering, dialogue, and moment of connection at The Guibord Center is a community of people helping hold the vision. Today, we’re highlighting Advisory Council member Dr. Antonios Kireopoulis, whose commitment to bridge-building and thoughtful leadership continues to inspire our work.

“There are still reasons to keep showing up for one another.”

We acknowledge that the Guibord Center gathers on the traditional and ancestral lands of Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this region for generations.

Land acknowledgements are not simply statements of the past — they are invitations to reflect on presence, responsibility, memory, and relationship. May we continue learning how to live more honestly and respectfully with the histories beneath our feet.

I n the mud and horror of World War I, something profoundly human still survived.

Luc Ferier shares the remarkable stories uncovered by The Forgotten Heroes 14–19 Foundation — stories of Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Sikh, and other soldiers finding moments of respect, dignity, and unity with one another in the trenches.

At a time when the world was tearing itself apart, these soldiers still recognized each other’s humanity. They prayed beside one another. Protected one another. Grieved together. Ate together. Died together.

These stories matter now more than ever.

Not because they erase difference — but because they remind us that coexistence is not naïve. It has existed before, even in the darkest places imaginable.

As we gather this Memorial Day, we pause to remember those whose lives were lost in service and conflict — and to reflect on the human cost of war itself.

At The Guibord Center, we believe remembrance can also be a call toward peace, compassion, and our shared responsibility to care for one another across every border, belief, and background.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day.

Today we honor Buddha Purnima, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Gautama Buddha.

Observed by Buddhists around the world, this sacred day invites reflection on compassion, mindfulness, wisdom, and the ongoing work of reducing suffering — both within ourselves and in the world around us.

May this day offer a moment of peace, stillness, and renewed care for one another.
