Prayer Wall

Prayer Wall Come and bring your requests so that we may go into the presence of our Triun God, creator of heaven and earth, to bring them to Him. Thats it! Amen!

We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our
prayers.
-- 1 Thessalonians 1:2

How This Works:

1. Post your Prayer requests here. Your request will be prayed for online in a comment following yours and offline in my prayer time.

2. When you have an answered prayer, please return and comment on your ORIGINAL prayer request (the actual facebook comment) with the praise report of the a

nswered prayer. When Prayer is answered it is our respectful duty to thank God by glorifying the name of Jesus Christ the Anointed One and spreading our testimonies for everyone to hear. Now post your requests with faith in knowing that the Triun God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit already know our requests and are waiting to hear us come together in unity so that He may be glorified by our prayer and praises!

Dear Lord, show this poor ignorant self what the next step is. I love you, I need you. Without you I would stumble into the wrong way. Please help me. Amen.

There have been some things happen recently in my life that have forced a refocusing on praying and pressing into God. It has made me realize how important it is to pray for others. We all have trials and difficulties arise in our lives that make us realize that the only true peace we have is in knowing that Jesus has given us salvation and in obeying his word we find refuge in the cross. If you have any prayer request I would invite you to share them here. It is in praying for each other that we find peace in knowing that God's mercy is among us. Today I want to ask you to pray for me. More specifically I ask that you pray for the following: my wisdom, physical mental and spiritual strength, and lastly finances and housing needs. Thank you and may God bless you with the heavenly wealth of all that is His. Shalom!

Praying Without Asking

by The Good Book Blog

By Michelle Lee-Barnewall

One of the exercises I have my spiritual formation students do is a prayer exercise in which they are to spend 30 minutes in prayer however they wish, but with one specific instruction – they are not supposed to ask for anything, for themselves or anyone else.

I tell them that the reason for the exercise is that while we are certainly told to bring our requests to God (e.g., Matthew 7:7-11; Luke 11:9-13; Philippians 4:6; 1 John 5:15; etc.), prayer is much more than requesting things. However, sometimes we get so accustomed to filling our times of prayer with requests that we forget to leave room to wait on God and listen to His voice.

In many ways we already know how to ask God for things. What we are less adept at doing is spending time with God just being in communion with him. Therefore, the purpose of the exercise is to help the students see just how much requests can dominate their prayer time and to help them discipline their prayer time so that they are able to come before God in other ways.

By refraining from asking for a period of time, they are compelled to pray in a different way. Some of them are puzzled over what to do, and so I give examples. They can give praise, give adoration, or engage in thanksgiving. They can sing hymns, or they can journal. Or they can simply be silent and wait in God’s presence.

There are also various helps that others have discovered. One is the ACTS method of praying, which is an acrostic that stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. This helps guide their prayer time so that supplication, or requesting, comes only after a period of adoration, confession, and thanksgiving.

Richard Foster, in his book Prayer, describes three categories of prayer designated as Inward, Upward, and Outward. Inward prayer is geared towards personal transformation, upward for intimacy with God, and outward for ministry. An example of inward prayer would be what he describes as “Simple Prayer,” or prayer in which we “bring ourselves before God just as we are, warts and all,” as Moses did in Numbers 11:11-12 when he complained to God about bearing the burdens of the stiff-necked Israelites (p.9). Upward prayer could include adoration, while petitions and intercessions are considered outward prayers. Thus, our petitions are but one of multiple forms of prayers, and our prayer life would be greatly enriched by these other dimensions.

I ask my students to pay attention to their responses to their exercise. Was it refreshing? Challenging? Boring? Peaceful? Exhilarating? Usually I get a wide range of answers. Some of the answers are relatively common, though: “I didn’t realize how much time I spent in prayer just making requests!” “It was really difficult not to ask for anything” “After I got used to it, it was great just to spend time with God.”

We talk about prayer as a time of building our relationship with the Lord. After all, what kind of relationship would we have with our friends and family if we only asked them for things? Learning about someone requires spending time in their presence during which we listen as much as we talk. As a wise friend of mine has said, “Prayer is open, honest, and forthright conversation with God, Who has more to say to His people than His people have to say to Him.”

Ecclesiastes 7:14 When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.

We all the sudden are introduced to creator Yahweh In Genesis chapter 1. He creates the earth, animals, garden, humankind and everything else. We hear a story about how Yahweh tells humankind not to eat a particular fruit and how humankind sinned by eating it and now we are living in a sinful and broken world. We are quick to state that, when things are uncomfortable or painful that something is not right.

It is a true fact that something is not right. In our hearts we have come to believe that if what is happening around us is causing pain or discomfort that it is bad. Furthermore we need to either fix the problem, run from the problem or do something of that nature to ease the symptoms of said problem or situation.

But what is the problem? The problem is the heart's condition. In Genesis we see mankind's sin was not merely just the sin of disobeying God in eating the fruit but the first sin started even before that. The first sin was when the serpent told eve you shall not surely die! and eve then considered how that she could improve her OWN knowledge. You see, eve was at that instant using her will, to disconnect herself from Yahweh, the source of her life, and put herself in control of her own understanding.

So, you see the problem is not the serpents of this life, which are a problem in and of themselves, presented as uncomfortable or painful situations. The problem is in that we choose to focus on the distractions because they were not what we had expected. We are trying to control EVERY aspect of our Christian lives, and while yes we have free will to do as we please, what is it that we are pleased to do? Each of you think of something uncomfortable in your own life that is out of or control or capable of being within your ability to act on and hold on to that thought.

Ok, now put that into perspective of timeless Yahweh who infinitely existed before He created space, time, humankind and everything in it. All the while existing without constraint of time, knowing as he created the world that we would sin and seeing our sin, as if it was now, to Him, He still created us. He CARED enough in His triunity relationship within Himself to make us in His image so that we could be a part of that unexplainable love relationship with Him. Not only did He create us anyway, He made a way for us to maintain a relationship with Him in our temporal broken and malconditioned heart state through Jesus’s death and resurrection.

Now, if we see a circumstance in our life that we consider uncomfortable, painful or bad how is it that we are measuring what is good and bad? Is it by what we can see in this comprehended segment of time, within this physical temporal world that we merely are passing through? Or are we measuring it by trusting in our timelessly infinite Yahweh creator of everything we know from the greatest non planet colliding galaxy to the smallest living microbial?

So you see the reconciled condition of the heart is to get the focus off of self and what self thinks is good or bad, be transparent with Yahweh when self is upset, angry or discomforted and find contentment in the response of correction, consolation or quietness. It is then that we can look forward to the next unknown challenges in life rather than be afraid of them. Because in our challenges, heartache and pain we can find beauty and spiritual strength through the intimately connected love relationship with our timeless infinite creator Yahweh

Peace that surpasses all understanding.

It is surely one of the most powerful stories of forgiveness in modern history. In 1993, Oshea Israel shot and killed Laramiun Byrd, 20, Mary Johnson's only child. For this crime, Israel spent 17 years in prison. But while Mary says she originally wanted only justice for the murder of her son, and vi…
